i also think jade and her dad need to realize that if she makes the team, regardless of whether or not they believe it to be a fair assessment of the situation, the media narrative will 110% be “jade took away another gymnast’s spot” and then consider whether or not they want to deal with that pr fallout
re: The Jade Carey Situation – i fully believe the twitter/reddit assessment that usag is just now realizing that, legally speaking, they fucked up in how they wrote the selection procedures. usag does not want her on the team because they don’t want to lose a guaranteed olympic spot, but they only just now figured out that they cannot prevent her from competing at trials without opening themselves up to a big ol lawsuit
that being said, i also think the “only the top 2 aa are guaranteed a spot on the team” qualification, when obviously simone will be 1st and we all know tom’s selection technique is 1-2-3-4, was written with the express purpose of allowing them to skip over someone who finished top 4 that they’d rather take as an individual

The Joys of Coffee Shops // Meileen & Asya
It’s for the fifth time this week; Meileen finds solitude on coffee shops -- this coffee shop, specifically, but this time is a lot more different than the other days. A few days ago, because of how crowded the place is, people are forced to share seats with strangers. This, however doesn’t apply to Mei. She isn’t a fan of sharing seats, especially when she’s too confined in something and needs no distraction.
However, a certain girl changed her views on sharing the seat. Then the next day, it was as if on instinct, she had the seat reserved for her. They don’t talk really. Mei would just steal a few glances and she’d find herself smiling like an idiot at how adorable the girl is.
The routines stays the same, up to now; and Meileen realized she’s been wasting too much opportunity on getting to know someone she actually likes. So when the girl arrived, taking the place Meileen discreetly reserved for her, she took a sip of her coffee before setting the book down. “Uhm.. Hi,” She greeted, a smile plastered on her lips. “You look gorgeous, as always.”
