Kit's brow furrows as she looks down at her phone, confusion overtaking her. She was waiting on a bench in the courtyard for Alan to join her after he got out of class when she received a text notification from him.
There's no other message from Alan. Just the image of... nothing. It's just a square of brownish-greyish gradient. She sends a question mark before typing out her reply. "Did you mean to send this?"
The typing bubble doesn't last very long. "Yeah"
She purses her lips, not knowing what else she expected. "... What is it?"
A moment later, Alan's caller ID appears on the screen, and she answers. "Where are you?" Kit asks.
"The school store. The restocked the coffee you like."
The simple answer tugs her lips into a smile. "Were you trying to send a picture of it?"
"Yeah. What's wrong with it?"
She bites back a laugh. "I think your finger covered the camera."
Alan sighs on the other end. "Sorry."
"Just get over here, I miss you." Kit can't hold the laugh in anymore, her stomach flipping at the excitement of seeing him.
When he finally joins her on the bench, he wordlessly hands her the iced coffee. "Thanks, how much do I owe you?" She asks, opening her bag for her wallet.
"Don't worry about it." He shakes his head and takes a sip of his own drink.
Kit smiles and leans in to give him a kiss on the cheek. "You're sweet."
She takes the light blush that dusts his cheeks as a success, her smile widening when he mutters, "I missed you, too."
