Can you bless us with any TLE snippets while we Americans grieve kamala's loss and the return of the most awful man to the white house? To help cheer us up at all

I'm going to need a minute before I'm in a place for cheering up, myself or other people. But here's a shitty little snippet from TLE4 I wrote on my phone at 4am this morning when I couldn't sleep and retreated to TLE-land to cope. This is Lily after the death of [redacted], thinking about the society she's trying to save, for some reason:

They don't deserve it, Lily thought through the furious sting of tears that threaded down her cheeks. They don't deserve the world that we're fighting -- and dying -- to build for them. All of them. These cowards and collaborators who side so easily with a monster, in hopes that he might give them a crumb of power. They don't deserve our labor, our love, our sacrifice, our lives. They don't deserve ANY of it. Then, a small voice in the back of her mind, soft as the coo of a child: But Harry does. Harry deserves it.

based on your recent posts + reread of TLE 2, it seems like you’re maybe starting to write a little bit. I’m hopeful you’re finding joy in it again! I’m also curious about how your approach to TLE 3 might change from book 2 given your plan to finish a draft of it before posting. Do you sort of prefer jumping around and writing whatever scenes excite you the most at a given time? Do you think you’ll ultimately have an easier time writing TLE 3 with some more time and space to write in a way that feels best to you?? Sending lots of positive vibes your way — looking forward to reading your wonderful writing again, however far in the future that may be 💕

Thank you so much! I have indeed been writing again, or at least working my way back into it. Gotta do a lot of metaphorical word yoga (aka writing sentences that make me go “ugh”) to effectively build those muscles again. But, it’s a process! We’re processing!

To answer your question, yes, I absolutely do prefer jumping around. My brain simply does not work chronologically. Or even linearly in any direction. This was something I found very frustrating while writing TLE2. I really like to work on the end at the same time as the beginning, that way I can sprinkle in all sorts of fun foreshadowing and parallels, which is my favorite thing to do, haha. I’ve actually been working simultaneously on TLE3 and TLE4 for this very reason. I like to know precisely where I’m going before I start the drive. I will inevitably get distracted by something shiny and head off in a completely different direction, but I like to at least have a map. 😅

Hii, I recently finished reading tle 2 and I was wondering what years do tle 3 and 4 cover? I would assume tle 3 covers the seventh year at hogwarts but then again I'm not sure.

TLE3 is the marauders’ 7th year (1977-1978) and TLE4 is the war years (1978-1981). At one point I was going to split TLE4 into two books because it covers so much time, but I think thematically I want it to be one. Or maybe it’s because the idea of “TLE5” provokes in me a deep sense of dread hahahhaa. TLE5? What’s next, TLE792?!?

idk if you’ve ever answered this but why do you think andromeda never reached out to sirius or checked in? especially after the news article about him punching malfoy i’m sure in the magical community people knew sirius ran away and it was probably gossiped about do you think she ever found out and wanted to reach out to him? i know she’s older and everything but i always wonder if there was any relationship later

Do you plan or did you ever thought about adding an epilogue for TLE4? Like POA timeline or OOP of HP series to see how the reunion goes between Remus and Sirius?

I do not think I will ever write anything during POA or OOTP as my interest in this universe pretty much extends only to the first war (and also, I mentally need a stopping point haha), but it may cheer you to know that I do intend to write an AU ending as well as the canon ending. ❤️

Hi CH, I read both TLE 1 and 2 over the past year. I am now two months postpartum (my baby is a March baby like James hurhur) and I just wanted to say that re-reading TLE kept me sane and gave me so much life during those long lonely postpartum nights. I so relate to your TLE 4 pregnant/new mother Lily and can't wait to see more of her. Just reading your re-reads and commentary makes me so happy! Hope you are having as much fun writing as we do reading your work:) Trust me when I say that your snippets and updates get us really excited!

Heyy CH!! I can't believe TLA2 is almost over and I can't believe how good your writing and the story are 😔 I think I'll reread it in the near future because I already miss it soooo much 💖

So of course I was daydreaming about TLA3 and TLA4 and I have a little question 😁 (No need to answer if you don't want to or think it's a spoiler) TLA1 is almost half the size of TLA2, do you have any idea how big (by chapters or word count) TLA3 and TLA4 will be compared to book 1 and 2? Like, is TLA2 going to be the biggest book among the four or do you imagine that the next ones will be even bigger?

Hahaha look, I’m an unreliable source here. Before TLE2, I swore that it was going to be shorter than TLE1. And then I got to writing it and remembered that 6th year jily is my favorite genre of jily and now the 400,000 word monstrosity that is TLE2 exists. 🙃

So while I fully intend for sjt here and tell you, with a gee whiz gosh and golly earnestness that would put any politician to shame, that TLE3 will absolutely not be a word longer than TLE1, gosh dang it…I’ve been proven to be a dirty liar who can’t be trusted. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

TLE4 gonna be long af though I’m afraid. 🫣

Was reading TLE2 and was thinking about how much I love Graham as a character and a foil to James (I’m sure this is an unpopular opinion—im not saying I want him to end up with Lily by any means but like—he’s good drama).

But it hit me that maybe…he’s gonna come back in later books to stir shit up with jily? Perhaps in the order?

Anyways, just a ramble from a perpetually depressed rereader.
