This Love Is Ours || jake-m-a-r-t-i-n
Clare was nervous, beyond so. She knew her dad would take it better than her mother and as for Glen, she wasn't too sure but Jake seemed to think it would all be okay. Her mother, on the other hand, scared them both. After being kicked out many months ago, it had been a hard time rebuilding that relationship she had with her mother. But she'd done it and she couldn't help but feel like this piece of news would send it crumbling once again. But she was happy, despite the regular stresses that came and go and sometimes left her feeling as if she had trouble breathing. She knew she could fight through it and she knew that because of Jake. Jake was her rock and the constant in her life. The one she could always depend on. Which was why she knew marrying him was right. Not right away, of course. They'd already agreed on a long engagement.
"This meatloaf is really good, Clare." Glen mumbled before stuffing another bite into his mouth and Clare smiled, nodding in his direction. She'd made her mother's favorite. Meatloaf, green beans and macaroni salad with cheesecake as dessert. Her mother had to know something was up. Especially with the way her mother kept glancing at her, that nervous, yet suspicious look in her eyes. Her dad nodded in agreement and Clare looked away from her mother, her hand slipping under the table to catch the one Jake had on his lap. She laced her fingers with his and breathed out. She glanced at him and smiled. Neither of them knew how this night would go, but she hoped it wouldn't be as bad as they both feared it could be. Clare heard a fork hit a plate and tore her eyes from Jake to see her mother wiping her mouth with a napkin as she stared them both down, her mouth set in a scowl. "You're pregnant, aren't you? Is that what you've gathered us all here for?" Helen said, her voice even and firm.
Jake had spent the entire day trying to reassure Clare that everything would be alright, even though he wasn’t so sure himself. But, they would get through this. They had done it before and everything with them was good. Jake just didn’t want Clare’s newly developed relationship with her mom to disintegrate because he knew how much it meant to her. He knew that everyone around the table was curious as to why they were all called together and he was nervous about telling everyone. Well, he was mostly nervous about Helen because she kept eyeing him and it made him squirm in his seat.
Jake nodded in agreement as everyone complemented Clare’s cooking. The food was truthfully delicious and he smiled lightly at her, relaxing as her hand slid into his and their finger laced together. He reached for his water, taking a sip and almost choking at Helen’s outburst. He put his class down and all eyes were on them and jake shook his head. “God no,” he said immediately and looked at Clare for help, not knowing if this was the right time or what. He just wanted to blurt it out, but fear took over his insides and he squeezed her hand gently.
Clare shook her head quickly, squeezing Jake's hand back. Glen and Randall had both quit eating and were staring at the two of them. "Mom, no." She shook her head, giggling nervously. Jake was being quiet and she didn't know what to say. But she figured now would be the best time. It was earlier on than she would've liked but she knew it was best to get it out. "Well," Clare put her fork down and took a sip from her water before taking a long deep breath. "Mom, dad," She looked at both of them and then at Glen and smiled. "Glen. Uh... well. No. I'm not pregnant. You're not going to be grandparents. Which is good, right? Not for a while, at least, yeah. No plans of babies, nope. So..." Clare glanced over at Jake and smiled. His hand in hers reminded her that she could do this. He was beside her and any storm, she could brave with him by her side.
"Jake asked me to marry him. And I said yes. We haven't set a date, it's going to be a long engagement, but we thought we should share the news." She hadn't moved her eyes from Jake's, not wanting to look away and though she didn't know anybody initial reactions, she felt this was better. It didn't matter anyway. "And while we want you guys to be happy for us, we're not asking for approval. We're happy. We're in love, and we know this is what we want." Bringing their joined hands to her lips, she kissed the back of his and smiled before looking around. "Mom, I know you think I'm too young and you might not agree, but I just got you back, so please. Please just think about how you loved dad, how you love Glen. I'm in love with Jake and I know he's it for me. I don't need to wait to find that out."
Jake was still trying to catch his breath for the blurted question and he wondered if that was what everyone had thought. With all of the scares they had, it seemed kind of ironic that that had been the first assumption. Jake’s eyes met Clare’s and he relaxed even more, knowing that she was beside him through all of this, that they had each other. It made everything worth it because they were fighting for something that was real, something that was never ending and that was their love for one another. Clare spoke and it made Jake feel like a coward, he should have announced it and he smiled slightly as she spoke, her eyes never leaving his. When their stare broke he looked at his Dad with almost pleading eyes, begging him to be understanding. If his Dad could be understanding then Helen might might be a little more calm than she would be if he was freaking out.
Jake coughed slightly, trying to relieve the silence. No one said anything, and Jake knew he should speak up. “I know I went about this the wrong way. Mr. Randall I should have asked permission, it would have been the respectful thing to do, but I love your daughter. Marrying her is one of the best ways I know how to show her how much,” he said softly, looking at Clare. He could feel Helen’s eyes on him, burning into his skin but he refused to look. “Jake,” Glen said softly and Jake turned towards his Dad, nervous as to what he could possible have to say. “Are you sure about this?” he asked him softly and Jake shook his head. “Dad, Do you remember when Mom died…” he said softly, he could feel that familiar feeling in the back of his throat whenever he talked about his Mom. “You told me she was a once in a lifetime love, no offense, Helen,” Jake muttered softly. “Clare is my once in a lifetime love, and i’m not letting that go,” he said, turning back to Clare. “We’re doing this, even if you disapprove,” he muttered, squeezing her hand.
Clare listened, her heart breaking at the sound of Jake's voice. She knew how hard talking about his mom was for him. They rarely went there and she never pushed the issue. She wanted him to talk about it when he felt like he could or should. She couldn't imagine losing her mom, like that. She squeezed Jake's hand again and nodded at his words. "And even if you disapprove, we hope that the three of you will still be there for us and love us no matter what." She could feel her stomach churning though, from nerves and she took a deep breath before looking over at her dad, who was giving her a particular one. She couldn't place it and she raised her eyebrows at him. "You're sure?" He asked and Clare nodded, unable to keep the smile off her lips. "Well, I can't say I didn't see it coming, because I did. Jake, if you hurt my daughter, I swear... and if you ever need a night away," Randall gave her a gentle smile and she rolled her eyes. "I have a couch. I know how my daughter can be." She playfully sighed and looked over at her mom.
"Mom?" Clare asked softly, her fingers wrapping around Jake's even tighter in anticipation. "I'm not happy about it," Helen started and Clare nodded, knowing this already but it still hurt her to hear it. "But you are happy... and I'm glad you're not pregnant." Helen seemed to be collecting her words little-by-little. "And you've decided on a long engagement, which is the best choice because you are both really young. You still have a whole year of high school left. And I just want you to both be sure about this decision. Because marriage is once," Clare raised her eyebrows and watched as her mom faltered realizing what she'd said and Clare shook her head. "No disrespect to you or dad, because I know you're both happier now. But Jake and I won't be like that. How do I know? Because you're right, we are young, but we talk. It might take a bit sometimes, but we do talk. We communicate and work together. It's a friendship, it's a partnership and a relationship. We're serious but we have fun, too." Helen nodded as Clare stopped talking and sighed. "So I can't change your mind?" She shook her head, smiling to herself. "Nor my heart, no." Her mom was quiet for a moment or two and raised her shoulders in a shrug. "Well, I guess Jake will be my son-in-law." And she knew that was the best they were going to get.
Jake turned towards Randall as he said his name and he chuckled softly. “I would never dream of hurting her,” he said truthfully and smiled at Clare with a nod “Yeah, I know how she can be,” he teased “But, it’s one of my favorite things about her,” he added quickly and squeezed her hand gently. That was one parent down and he knew that the hardest would be Helen, so when Clare started talking to her he tensed slightly, waiting for the outburst. But, her words shocked him. She was, almost okay with it. Clare was so amazing as she talked to her Mom and it made him smile. Jake gave a grateful nod towards Helen and turned to his Dad, waiting for him to talk. “This just seems ridiculous, Jacob,” he said and Jake winced at the sound of his full name. “Marriage is a serious thing, and you’re too young,” he said sternly and Jake nodded, he hated the way his Dad was talking to him, like he was some child. “Dad, We’re waiting to get married until after school and we know what we want to do with our lives, but we know that we want each other in our lives,” he said to him.” If Helen can be open minded, so can’t you,” he said softly and his Dad nodded. “I’ll support you, but i’m not happy about it,” he muttered and Jake nodded. “This isn’t like you,” Jake said softly, squeezing Clare’s hand. Glen shrugged “You’re mother wouldn’t be very happy with this decision,” Glen said softly and Jake knew that wasn’t true. “If you’ll excuse me for a moment,” Jake said softly and let go of Clare’s hand, standing up he headed out of the room, still confused as to why his Dad was using his Mom against him.
She sat, stunned at Glen's words - his entire reaction. She'd been expecting this from her mother. Not Glen. She looked across the table and saw that her father was staring between both Jake and Glen before busying himself with his food. Helen was staring at Glen, too, but she couldn't read the expression. Feeling Jake let go of her hand, she waited until he was away from the table before turning to look at her mother's husband. "Wow, Glen, that was awfully nice of you. Don't approve, fine, but don't do that to Jake. It's not fair of you to use his mother against him." Taking the napkin from her lap, she turned to her mom and dad. "Excuse me, I'm going to go check on Jake. Enjoy dinner." She said, pushing her chair in as she stood up and turned in the direction Jake had went. Not finding him in the living room or the bathroom, she turned and gently pushed their bedroom door open. "Jake?" Clare moved to walk into their room but paused, unsure of what she could say to fix whatever damage his father had just done. Finally, she walked into the room and shut the door lightly. Moving toward him, she kneeled in front of him, her hands reaching for his. "I'm sorry," She murmured, lacing their fingers together. Reaching with one of her hands, she caught his chin softly in her fingers and sat up, kissing him lightly before getting up and sitting beside him on the bed. "I'm sorry he said that to you and that he reacted that way." Clare bit the inside of her cheek, rubbing his back softly.
Jake sat down on the bed, running his fingers through his hair. He wanted to cry. How could his dad say that to him? All he ever wanted was his mom to be proud of him and here comes his dad and he doubts himself. It didn’t change his mind about Clare, but it did make him question his relationship with his Dad, especially since it seemed like Glen could so easily hurt Jake without caring. The door opened, but he didn’t move until Clare was kneeling in front of him. His hands were in hers and as she lifted his chin and kissed him he shrugged. She shouldn’t be apologizing for everything that his Dad said “Don’t apologize it’s not your fault,” he assured her softly before standing up and shaking off the feeling he had previously. He wasn’t going to let his Dad ruin his excitement about his and Clare’s engagement because then he would win. He was marrying Clare and his Dad wasn’t going to do anything about it. He wrapped his arms around Clare in an embrace and kissed her hair “I love you, but really, you don’t need to apologize, i’m fine. I was just shocked is all,” he reassured her before pulling away. “We should go back,” he said with a nod and headed to the table again, taking his previous seat.
She hugged him back, whispering that she loved him, too but when he pulled away and walked away, she found herself standing there for a few moments. Clare worried, of course, she did that a lot but this was different. She was angry at Glen for saying such a thing to Jake to begin with. Sighing and brushing her fingers through her messy curls, she made a mental note to get a hair cut. Following Jake, she took her seat at the table and slowly went back to eating. It was quiet, and she could feel the tension in the air. Having lost her appetite, she got up and wrapped her plate, knowing she'd be hungry later. Returning to her chair, she reached for Jake's hand and squeezed it gently. The three adults sat quietly, eating and glancing at each other or at her and Jake and Clare sighed deeply. She was just ready for this to be over with now. Ready for them to leave and ready to wrap her arms around Jake. "So, I made cheesecake, whenever you guys are done... if you want it." She said, figuring the silence needed to be broken. Randall perked up, sending her a grin. "Sure thing, Clarebear. I'd love a piece." She laughed softly, forever thankful for her father. "Anybody else?" Clare looked around and noticed Glen and her mother both looked interested. Nodding, she kissed Jake's cheek and stood, going to the kitchen yet again to get a few plates and the cheesecake.
Jake was thankful when Clare sat down and he continued eating, not looking at his dad. The tension was clear in the room and he was thankful when Clare finally broke the silence. He nodded “I’ll take some, babe. Thanks,” he said softly after Randall and smiled lightly as Clare kissed his cheek. He was going to go help her, but Randall interrupted “So Jake, any news from universities?” he asked and Jake shook his head “No sir, but I should find out within the next few weeks,” he told him, having forgotten about the applications he had sent out. He hadn’t wanted to think about leaving Clare if it had come down to it. “Where did you apply to?” Randall asked and jake shrugged “Here and there, mostly close so that I can stay here,” he said to Randall. “I’ll be back, I should help Clare,” he excused himself and headed into the kitchen, wrapping his arms around her from behind. “This looks delicious,” he said, the innuendo clear as he kissed her neck lightly, just trying to get her to relax a little bit. “I came to help you,” he said against her neck softly, sucking on the skin gently.
Clare almost jumped as she felt Jake's arms but settled against him, smiling. At first, she thought he meant the cheesecake but as his lips pressed against her neck - she knew better. Sighing softly, she reminded herself that her mom and dad and Glen were all in the very next room. "To help me or drive me crazy?" She murmured softly as he began to suck on her neck. Clare groaned under her breath and shut her eyes, putting the plates onto the counter. When he slowed down, she turned in his arms and looked up at him, raising her eyebrows. Silently praying that he hadn't left a mark on her neck, she put her hands on his hips and gently led the way to the other side of the kitchen where she pushed him against the counter. "Not nice, love," She whispered and leaned up, brushing her lips over his as she moved her body against his. Before it could get out of hand, she took a few steps back and smirked at him. "See, not fair, is it?" She winked at him and turned away from him. Grabbing the plates, she nodded toward the cheesecake and looked back at him. "Grab that for me, pretty please?"
Jake chuckled against her neck and shrugged “Both,” he chuckled and after a few moments he pulled away and smiled down at her as she turned in his arms. “I like the mark on your neck,” he teased lightly and brushed his fingers over her neck. He chuckled as she pushed him against the counter and he smirked at her and nodded “Touche,” he teased and watched her pick up a few plates. He walked next to her and squeezed her ass gently before grabbing the plates and winking at her “I’m not done with you yet,” he teased lightly before heading into the dinning area and distributing the desert in his hands to Helen and Randall before taking a seat and taking a bite of his own. When Clare sat down he squeezed her upper thigh gently “It’s delicious,” he said softly with a playful wink that was subtle enough so that their parents wouldn’t notice.
Clare yelped softly as he grabbed her bottom and turned it into a light laugh. Once they were back into the dining room, she fixed her hair over her neck and laid the plates down as everybody reached for one and a slice of the cheesecake. Getting a tiny piece, she ate it slowly, glad that there wasn't as much tension. Maybe they'd talked while she and Jake were out of the room, she wasn't sure. When his hand found her upper thigh and he squeezed, she did her best to keep a straight face but really, it was hard. "So mom, what's up, how are you?" Helen gave her a strange look and Clare shrugged, smiling brightly at her mother. "Well, good. I'm fine." Her mother answered, glancing at Glen who was eating silently. "Oh! Did I tell you about the art festival that Glen and I are going to after we leave here?" Clare shook her head no and smiled as her mother launched into detail about her current interest. As her mother really got into it, even getting glen to talk along with her, she reached under the table and moved her hand from his knee slowly up his thigh, nodding in all the right parts of what Glen and her mother were explaining to her.
Jake listened to the conversation between Helen, Glen and Clare. Jake didn’t talk, but then again he had nothing to say. An art fair? He knew his dad was going to want to kill himself during that and he was kind of happy he was being dragged to it. Serves him right. Jake felt Clare’s hand on his knee and he tensed as it moved up his thigh. He placed his hand over hers to stop it and shot her a look. He leaned over and kissed her cheek “I wouldn’t if I were you,” he whispered in her ear and then pulled away with a soft chuckle. He moved his hand to her thigh, brushing it quickly over her inner thigh and sliding it up her skirt gently, joining in on the conversation that was happening around the table. “Do you like sports, son?” Randall asked Jake and he shrugged “Some, not many. I can sit through hockey, that’s mostly it,” he nodded “I try to force Clare to watch, but you know how she is,” he said turning towards Clare as his fingers brushed between her legs and then he removed them, bringing them to his own lap.
She blushed as Jake leaned over and kissed her cheek, whispering to her and she quickly dropped her hand away from his thigh. Though, when his hand moved and he decided to take it further by shifting under her skirt, she swallowed thickly. She laughed at Jake's small joke and shrugged. Hockey was definitely not her thing. When his fingers brushed between her legs she laid her head against the palm of her hand and realized her mistake immediately. "Honey, are you okay?" Her mother asked and Clare jumped up, glad that Jake had removed his hand from her skirt. "Yeah, I just got a little... dizzy, I guess." Which wasn't completely a lie, she decided. "You're all red, are you feeling sick?" Randall asked and Clare shook her head. "I just feel dizzy, I'm sure that I'm fine." Clare turned to Jake and gave him a look before ducking her head and taking another bite of the cheesecake, blinking slowly and trying to act natural. Glen pushed his plate away and Clare looked over. "Thank you for dinner," he said politely and she wondered what was going on with Jake's father but nodded her head as if to say that he was welcome. "There's left overs, if anybody wants any?" She offered, smiling at both her mom and dad.
Jake tried his best not to burst into laughter as everyone jumped to make sure she was okay. Jake rubbed her back gently, playing along with her excuse “Why don’t you drink some water?” he suggested softly with a chuckle and handed her his glass. As she finished eating he watched her, her beauty lightened a room. Glen looked at him, he could sense it as he watched Clare and he coughed after Clare asked if anyone wanted leftovers. “You really love her,” he said to Jake and he nodded “You watch her the way I used to watch your mother, and now Helen,” he said to his son and Jake nodded, looking at Clare. “Like she’s the only person in the room?” he asked softly and his Dad nodded and he smiled at Clare before clearing the plates and then bringing them to the kitchen, pulling out some containers to pack some food for their parents before bringing back the food. He handed them off and cleared some more plates, placing them in the sink, figuring he would have to do those later.
Clare stood quite awkwardly as she and Jake finished packing the food away and gave away left overs to their parents. She smiled when her dad put his down and held his arms out for her. Their relationship had definitely improved to the point where they saw each other more than once a week. "I'm going to walk dad down, okay? Don't leave yet, mom." She asked, glancing at her and picked Randall's food up before motioning toward the door that they walked toward. Once outside of the apartment, it was quiet and she wondered what her dad was thinking about. She didn't find out until they were at his car and he'd taken the food from her to put in the passenger seat. "I didn't want to say it in front of your mom, in fear that she might burst into angry flames and bite my head off. But I am so proud of you, Clare." She smiled, tilting her head as she laughed softly. "Why?" She was truly confused. "Because of how you handled yourself in there. Because you're doing what you want with your life. Not what I want, not what your mother wants. But you. I think that's where we got a little mixed up with Darcy." Clare, who didn't know what to say, smiled and wrapped her arms around him again, hugging him tightly. "Thanks, daddy." It was rare that she called him that, but it slipped and they both laughed. "Now go on, go deal with your mother and good luck."
Rolling her eyes, she pulled back from her dad and watched him get into the car before waving and turning to climb the steps back to the apartment. Walking back into the apartment felt different. There wasn't as much tension so Clare hoped that Glen and Jake had talked. Glancing around, she spotted her mom in the kitchen and laughed lightly. "Mom, come on, I can do that." She reached for her mom's arm and gently pulled her away. "Or Jake. Sometimes I like to make him do dishes because he gets grumbly and it's quite cute, but he always does it if I need him to." She glanced at Jake and stuck her tongue out at him. Her mom, who didn't seem to know what to say looked between her and Jake. "Your dad seems like he's doing well," Helen commented lightly and she nodded. "He has his days," She answered, shrugging. When her mom pulled her into a hug, she hadn't been expecting it but she hugged her back tightly, smiling. It was way more than she thought would happen. She didn't pull back until Helen did and smiled a bit bigger when her mother gently pushed hair from her face before pulling away completely. "Come on, Glen, we should get going. Thanks for dinner, kids, it was great."
Jake watched as Clare headed out of the apartment and he sighed, the tension coming back into the room. It was strange, wherever Clare was there seemed to be a little light that loomed over the group and the tension would just disappear. “Jake, son. I want to talk to you,” Glen said with his hand on Jake’s shoulder and frankly Jake wasn’t in any mood to hear it, but he listened anyway. “Clare is one heck of girl,” he said softly and Jake nodded “She’s amazing,” Jake complimented and watched his father carefully. He didn’t know what to expect or if he should be expecting anything form the man in front of him, especially after everything he had said to him. “I want to apologize, using your mom like that, against you. Well, that wasn’t okay,” Glen said to him seriously and Jake just nodded because he was hurt and it wasn’t okay. “It’s fine, I know you’re not always going to be happy with my decisions, but Clare is my future and you have to accept it,” he told his Dad seriously and was shockingly pulled into a hug. “I just don’t want you to get hurt,” he said to him and Jake pulled away “I can take care of myself,” he told him and the tension seemed to just melt away. Jake hadn’t thought of accepting his Dad’s apology, but it was the only way they would get through any of this. Glen had to be forgiven, even if Jake didn’t necessarily want to, but he could play nice.
They sauntered off into the kitchen, where Helen stood doing the dishes. “Helen, please. I’ll do those,” he offered and then Clare walked in, her words almost mimicking his, “She cooks and I clean, we are a good team,” he joked and smiled at Clare. He was happy when Helen’s arms wrapped around Clare because that meant acceptance, and that was what they had from her. the one person whom they thought would never accept them together had come a long way from who she was 9 months ago. Jake smiled and said his goodbye, Helen hugging him gently and then his Dad. The door closed and Jake relaxed even more before he walked over to the table and cleared it all into the kitchen. “That went well,” he nodded to Clare as he started on dishes. “I love you,” he said as he washed the dishes.
"I love you," She smiled and leaned up, kissing his cheek gently. Everything else was done, with the food packed away, the table cleaned and everything set back on it that usually sat there. The dishes was it and she knew Jake would tell her to relax. Stepping behind him, she giggled and wrapped her arms around him. Clare hugged him for a moment before snatching the dish rag from his hand and washed the dish in his hand. She laughed as this continued until they were finished up and quickly side-stepped him and rinsed them off before laying them in the drainer and drying her hands off. "Thank you for doing the dishes." She murmured, hopping up onto the counter and grinning from ear-to-ear at him. Clare reached for the dish towel and tossed it at him gently so that he could dry his hands off as well. She was quiet for a few moments, watching him. Finally, she reached for his belt loops and tugged him toward her gently, staring at him. "You were right, you know? We make a good team."
She wrapped her arms around his shoulders, pulling him against herself as she hugged him gently and kissed his cheek, a smile still on her lips. Pulling back, she looked at him and brushed the hair from his forehead. "Did your dad say anything else? Apologize at least?" She was surprised that Helen had been calm about the whole announcement. Especially since she was sure that her mom had been minutes from blowing up at them. And she was a bit worried, knowing that Glen's comment had gotten to Jake and upset him. She was still angry at his dad, simply for the fact that he'd used that as his argument. She wanted their parents to be supportive and happy, and she knew that one of them would be upset but the fact that it was Glen blew her away. Pushing it further, what he'd said to Jake had made her question everything she knew about Jake's dad.
Jake chuckled as Clare insisted on helping him with the dishes. He wished she would just sit down and relax for once, he smiled to himself at the thought. He watched as she jumped onto the counter and he chuckled, deflecting the towel before drying off his hands and willingly moving close to her as she pulled him. “You’re welcome,” he smiled and his hands rested on her thighs “We make the best team,” he agreed lightly, kissing her. He smiled when she hugged him and he nodded at her question “Yeah, I’m not so easily forgiving, but it’s better than fighting,” he shrugged and brushed her curls out of her face, resting his hand against her cheek. “How about we not talk about my Dad and pretend we did,” he said quietly, not wanting to discuss is father in the slightest, mostly because it was kind of a mood ruiner and he just wanted to be with Clare.
Jake moved his hand hand up her thighs and to her waist “So, what now?” he whispered, leaning forward bringing and kissing along her neck and down her collarbone. “You have a nice neck,” he teased lightly, finding her sweet spot and sucking in it gently as his fingers moved up and down her sides and then to her ankles, moving them to lock around his waist.
She kissed him back sweetly, smiling against his lips and pulled back as he spoke. Clare frowned for a moment but it didn't stay long as Jake moved her hair from her face and laid his hand on her cheek. It still made her heart jump, made her feel fuzzy and silly. "Okay," She agreed lightly, not wanting to push him about talking about what had happened earlier. She knew in due time, if he needed to, he would. "What now?" Clare repeated his words softly, her breath hitching as he kissed her neck and along her collarbone. "Now we slowly plan a wedding? It won't be---" she bit down on her bottom lip, unable to continue as he sucked at her skin. He knew exactly where to get to her and how to do it. "Thank you," She murmured, blushing bright red. She didn't fight it as he wrapped her legs around his waist. His fingers left her intoxicated and she shut her eyes. "It won't be as stressful. Slowly. Planning the wedding, I mean." She stumbled over her words, doing her best to keep up with what she had been saying. She dropped her forehead to rest against his shoulder as her fingers bunched the front of his shirt and she tightened her legs around his waist. How fast he could make her feel such a way, it always left her wondering which way was up and which way was down.
Jake smiled against Clare’s neck as her words drifted off. He loved the affect he had on her and it was one of the best feelings in the world. He nodded as she finally finished her sentence. It was true, they had so much time to plan the wedding that it wouldn’t be as difficult as if they were doing it in a short period of time. He felt her legs tighten around him and he chuckled “You are so easy,” he teased gently against her neck as he kissed to the other side, his fingers brushing over the tops of her thighs. After a few more moments he pulled away and smiled at her widely, his fingers brushing over her cheek bones. “How do our friends stand to be around us? I just can’t keep my hands off of you,” he joked lightly, but was mostly serious. He had never been one for public displays of affection, but with Clare he didn’t mind because he wanted everyone to know that she was his. It was his way of kind of staking his claim, but in general he just wanted to be touching her in some way at all times. It seemed strange, but it was true. “Remember when I came home from Maine with my Dad?” he asked with a smirk, winking at her playfully.
She didn't understand how he could talk or rather, why he was talking. He kept going on and on and Clare did what she could to keep up with the words leaving his mouth but all she could feel was his hands over her thighs, his fingers brushing over her cheeks. Everywhere he touched felt like fire but left her shivering and reaching for more. "I remember," She sighed, ignoring her red cheeks and pushed him back gently as her legs unhooked from his waist and she let her feet hit the floor. "The thing is, it's kind of sad that you'd rather talk about it instead of reenacting some of it. What a shame," She murmured, moving around the kitchen and straightening a few things before shrugging and walking out of the kitchen. Making her way around the living room, she fixed a few of the couch pillows and glanced at Jake, who was standing in the kitchen. Chuckling softly to herself, she walked to the dining area, her eyes making a sweep of the area, making sure she'd gotten anything left over. There weren't any food crumbs or anything and really, she was just buying time and waiting for Jake to realize what she meant by that statement.
Jake watched her carefully as she pushed him back and hopped off the counter. She moved around the kitchen and it took him a second to realize what she meant. By the time he realize it she was in the living room and he waited until she was in view. He walked up to her “So you want a reenactment?” he said softly, grabbing her from behind and pulling her back against him. “I can reenact,” he whispered into her ear softly before turning her around and picking her up, pinning her against the closest wall. “You know, we hardly do this enough,” he mumbled before his lips crashed against hers and he kissed her eagerly, his hand going to her thighs and hitching her legs back around his waist as his tongue charged inwards, coming in contact with her own, fighting for dominance and he won. Brushing his tongue along the inside of her mouth, his hands moving over her sides as the kissed.
She couldn't help the shiver as Jake yanked her against him and she shut her eyes for a second, feeling her whole body flush as he spoke against her ear. Clare was surprised as he turned her around, half-expecting him to kiss her but instead, he moved and pinned her against the wall and then his lips crashed against hers and she groaned into the kiss. She loved soft and sweet but there was something else entirely about the way this felt, too. Locking her legs around his waist, she gave into him, giving him exactly what he wanted. But it was definitely what she wanted, too. Running her fingers through his hair, she ground her hips against his as much as she could, his body was still holding her in place and she just needed him. "Jake," she shut her eyes, her lips working from his as she kissed along his jaw. Her fingers worked the buttons of his shirt until she was pushing it over his shoulders and down his arms. Lightly nipping at his neck, Clare moved her hands down his chest, her tongue taking its time in making its way over his skin before she found the exact spot below his ear and sucked gently.
As Clare’s hips started grinding against him he ground, feeling the growing erection against his boxers and jeans. His name off her lips made him shiver and he moved away from the wall as her lips moved to his weak spot below his ear and he moaned softly. He looked around slight before walking over to the table and laying Clare down on it and he climbed on top of her, just praying the table could hold both of them. He hiked her skirt up and pulled down her panties quickly. It was strange, but for some reason slow and romantic wasn’t going to do it for him. He pulled her lips back to his aggressively as he unbuttoned her blouse and his fingers moved between her legs and he rubbed her clit gently before moving them back to her waist. He pulled out his wallet from his pocket and sighed in relief that their was a condom in there and he started undoing his belt, his fingers fumbling over it quickly. “God, i love you,” he mumbled, looking at her briefly as he tossed his belt to the floor next to the table.
Clare opened her eyes as he laid her down and she realized it was definitely not their bed and instead was the table. Having no complaints, she shivered as he moved her skirt and yanked her panties down. Her body jumped as his fingers found her sensitive spot and she shut her eyes, moving her hips up against him though it was over, all too soon and Clare grunted in response. Sitting up, she moved her hands over his shoulders, her lips brushing over his collarbone and she nipped at his skin as she heard the belt hit the floor. Deciding that Jake was taking his sweet time, she reached down and unbuttoned his pants only to unzip them quickly. Pushing his pants and boxers down his hips, she snatched the condom from his hand. Ripping the wrapper, she pulled the condom out and rolled it onto his length. Usually, she would take the time to tease him but she was desperate and she was needy. Clare paused, just for a single moment as she reached up, her hands cupping his cheek as she kissed him softly and slowly, the passion flowing through her. "I love you, too." She whispered. Smiling, she pulled back onto the table and pulled him with her.
Jake was thankful as Clare unbuttoned his pants and then took the condom from him. There was something Clare sliding on his condom that was so arousing. Her fingers brushing over his length made him grown and he just wanted to be inside her. Jake smiled lightly at her and returned her soft kiss, moving down onto the table once again with her and he parted her legs quickly, trying to get the heat back as he pushed into her, not bothering to start of slow. He thrusted quickly inside of her, his fingers brushing over her sides as he held the skirt up over her waist. His lisp found hers, kissing her roughly and he could feel his own lips becoming swollen, but it didn’t bother him, he just wanted Clare, all of her, no matter what. He broke the kiss moving down to her neck, sucking in rhythm with his thrusts along her throat, feverishly.
She was surprised as he entered her without warning. They were usually always so careful but the times that they allowed themselves to be like this, she enjoyed it. Moaning softly against his lips, she moved her hands over his shoulders and down his back. His lips moved to her neck and she was sure then, that Jake was doing what he could to drive her crazy. It was working and she had absolutely no power, no control and it all easily slipped from her because of him. "God, Jake," Giving in had never felt better, she thought idly, her hands making their way to his hips as she gripped them and moved with him. It was raw and intense, even though it wasn't slow and sweet, she could still feel that passion that was always between them. Sliding her hands from his hips, she shyly ran her hand over his bottom, knowing every single time she did it that it surprised him. Giggling and jerking her hand back, she kissed his shoulder, biting down lightly. Laying her head back on the table, she breathed out, knowing that it was off and that she was trembling. Reaching down, she caught his cheeks with her hands and gently led him into another bruising kiss.
Jake smiled against her neck, hers noises were driving him crazy and his hips moved harshly against her for a moment. His name drifted out of her mouth and he felt shivers down her spine, even more so as her fingers moved down his back and to his hips and he gripped them tightly. He froze slightly as she moved her hands over his bottom and he shook his head because it always surprised him even though he started expecting more. Touching his butt was kind of her thing and he didn’t mind it too much. He picked his pace back up as she bit his shoulder and then their lips were moving against each other. Tongue and lust all wrapped up into this one kiss “I love you,” he mumbled against her lips before going at it again and picking up his pace slightly, he could feel his stomach starting to tighten in that familiar feeling and he hoped that Clare was feeling it as well.
Clare murmured against his lips, whispering the words against his but it was barely there. As his hips met hers, all she could feel was the pleasure that overtook her body and sent her spiraling. It was coming fast and strong, the way her stomach tightened and she dug her fingers into his shoulders. Her mouth claimed his once more and she was glad that the kiss did what it could to mute the moans, his name that constantly slipped from her. It happened quick, moving through her and leaving her quivering beneath him. Brushing her fingers through his hair, she trailed kisses from his lips and down his neck, biting down softly as she continued to move up against him. She wanted him to feel the same release that she had. Whatever he did for her, she wanted him to feel just as good, just as loved. She nipped lightly at his earlobe and moaned softly as her legs wrapped around his waist and brought him closer, deeper. "Jake," she groaned softly, gasping at the feel of him.
Jake moaned softly when he felt her release around him and their lips met, moving over each others lovingly. Then her lips were on his neck and he shivered slightly as she bit down and he could feel the feeling taking over him as his stomach tightened as her legs wrapped around his waist and he moved deeper inside of him. His name on her lips was his trigger and he felt himself let go and he moaned softly, kissing along her shoulder gently as he rode it out. He rested his forehead against her and chuckled softly as he tried to catch his breath. “Wow,” he muttered softly before kissing her gently. He loved times when everything wasn’t so sweet and slow, even though he loved those times too. Getting lost in Clare like this reminded him why he loved her so much sometimes because she was truly amazing, at everything.
Clare giggled quietly, nodding a bit before laying her head back on the table and breathing out. "Yeah," She agreed wholly. "Wow." She wanted to move, fix her clothes or at least go change or shower, but she was way too comfortable, despite her back laying against the hardwood table. "I'll never be able to eat dinner with company here and not think of this." She murmured, running her fingers through his hair gently. Her eyelids were heavy but not because she was sleepy. "Mmph." She carefully moved and kissed him sweetly which was different from how they had just been with one another. "I love you. And this is nice, but if we're going to cuddle, can we move elsewhere?" Where as it had been comfortable, it wasn't anymore and she made a mental note to clean the table before either of them sat down to eat at it again. Snickering, she thought of how she was glad they hadn't done this yet because their earlier dinner would've made her giggle the entire time.
Jake chuckled “I like your giggle,” he said softly and smiled down at her “Does that mean I get to see you blush more? because I like that too,” he teased lightly before climbing off of her slowly and nodded at her question “Of course,” he smiled and pulled off the condom before pulling his boxers and jeans back on his body and he tossed the condom in a near by trash bin before bending down and picking up Clare’s underwear and tossing it at her “Don’t leave your dirty clothes around the house,” he teased before wrapping his arms around her and kissing her gently. “Where do you want to cuddle?” he asked against her lips before pulling away and smiling down at her. It was strange, but for some reason he loved talking to Clare after they had sex, he didn’t really know why, but it made him smile. “We can go to the couch, the bed, the bath tub,” he teased lightly, nudging her gently.
Clare grinned. "I like your... everything." She gave him a look before standing up and catching the pair of underwear he'd thrown at her. Fixing her skirt, she rolled her eyes, laughing. "My bad. I just had to have some really hot sex with my husband to be." She wrapped her arms around him and looked up, smiling at him. "Remind me to really clean that table later, okay?" Leaning up, she kissed him lightly and pulled away with a shrug. All of his options sounded nice. "Bath tub and then bed?" Or maybe bed. No... the bath. Yes." Clare poked his sides lightly and pulled away. "I'll go start the water." Kissing his cheek, she turned and made her way to their bathroom. Starting the water, as she said, she made sure the temperature was decent before pouring some of the bubbles in. Clare crossed the hall and quickly undressed, throwing her clothes into the bin before grabbing a towel from the clean stack on their dresser, that she hadn't had time to put away yet and wrapped it around herself. Once back in the bathroom, she glanced at herself in the mirror and saw that her cheeks were red and she chuckled to herself. Not wanting to get her hair wet, she put it up and peeked out of the door and smiled. "Oooh Jake?"
Jake rolled her eyes playfully “Sex is always hot with me,” he teased cockily and he nodded down at her. The table would definitely need to be cleaned before there was nay eating going on. “Those all sound perfect, I’ll be right there,” he reassured her softly. He watched as she headed towards the bathroom and he headed into the kitchen grabbing some paper towels and the wood cleaner before heading to the table. He cleaned it quickly, taking the burden of Clare’s hand and he smiled when he heard Clare call his name. “Coming,” he said to her before leaving the cleaner and heading to bathroom. He chuckled at her messy curls, which were bunched up on her head and he slid off his pants. “You don’t need this,” he chuckled tugging on the towel before sliding off his boxers and climbing into the hot water of the bath, relaxing as it soothed his own skin.
Clare watched as he got into the hot water and smiled. Laying her towel on the counter, she followed him and climbed into the water carefully. Resting against his chest, she closed her eyes and allowed herself to relax. She loved how being around him or a simple touch of his hand, a glance and locking eyes could make her feel safe and loved and complete. It was sort of corny, the way she felt about him, but it was very real and true. He was all the love stories she'd ever read, all the love songs she'd ever heard. Finding words to tell him how she felt sometimes left her gaping like a fish out of water and she felt silly a lot of the time but she figured that was the price of being this in love with someone. Tilting her head, she kissed his cheek softly and smiled at him. Clare reached for one of his hands and laced their fingers together, her cheek pressed against his chest and she shut her eyes, just resting and being with Jake. She loved every moment but sometimes these were her favorite times. "I love you," She said finally, her voice quiet, her thumb brushing against his. She knew that didn't cover it, those three words. But she would never give up trying to tell him and she'd spend the rest of forever showing him.
