SPOILERS It just feels like tlj all over again with this movie undoing previous ones - I honestly only cared about Tchalla and his people, the Guardians, Peter Parker, and Thor and his people. They’ve killed two characters of color who might not come back and I don’t see the fucking point except more racist, VERY lazy writing. Why kill Gamora and Heimdall?? Was it just bc they wouldn’t pay the actors enough to renew their contracts like why tf is it. It’s not for a good plot reason I already know. Fuckin Pacrim2 bullshit with Mako Mori all over again I’m so fucking tired

i need AT LEAST five(5) of six(6) things in Episode IX to be even halfway happy and not think this sequel trilogy is a complete failure:

Rose Tico AND Finn having a prominent role in the main plot (REQUIRED)

Finn being Force sensitive (REQUIRED)

Rey being happy about Finn and Rose’s relationship

Rose being happy about Rey and Finn’s relationship

Rey getting a dual lightsaber

Rey and Rose being friends and interacting and passing the Bechdel test

EDIT: I forgot to mention bc it should never occur to anyone controlling what happens in ix but also

ROSE, POE, REY, AND FINN ARE ALL STILL ALIVE AND WELL BY THE END OF THE MOVIE

So the reason many of us are mad at rian johnson is not ONLY bc he chose to focus on kylo and devalue finn

It’s because he chose to focus on kylo, devalue finn, introduce a WOC and then devalue her, and devalue poe to a racist stereotype

None of those things are mutually exclusive

Focusing on kylo made all the other characters’ development suffer at his expense, including rey, and Luke. Not just the characters of color but your main white faves. Focusing on kylo made the entire movie suffer from a writing standpoint, and we want that to be acknowledged. You’re not horrible for liking TLJ. You’re horrible if you like it WHILE ALSO defending the racist and sexist components of its writing. Finn, Poe, Rose, and Rey’s writing suffered in this movie bc Rian cared more about an almost-redemption arc for kylo ren

Acknowledge that and idc if tlj is your precious fave that you will always defend against the haters. Learn what it doesn’t need defending against
