There’s this moment during episode 8 that really stood out to me and it’s during David’s whole tirade about the cordyceps
He’s talking about how amazing they are and saying how it isn’t evil and how it “secures it’s future with violence” and it’s good actually and there’s this split second moment where Ellie’s eyes HARDEN like she’s resisting everything to not attack him right then, to not scowl and scream at him
And I know she was thinking of Riley of Tess of Sam of this horrible fucking virus that’s taken EVERYONE away from her except Joel
And now this fucking psycho is standing in front of her, who took her away from Joel, who wants to kill him, and is praising the very thing that’s ruined the world and has hurt her personally over and over again
And you can see in her eyes, in that moment, she makes the decision that when she kills him, she’s going to make it hurt
I got you. I got you.
THE LAST OF US— 1.08: "When We Are in Need"
THE LAST OF US ⇢ 1x08 | WHEN WE ARE IN NEED
But then the world ended and I was shown the truth. Right… by God. No. By Cordyceps. What does Cordyceps do? Is it evil? No. It’s fruitful. It multiplies. It feeds and protects its children, and it secures its future with violence, if it must. It loves.
I could listen to Joel/Pedro screaming "What town?!" all day, every day, on repeat and NEVER get tired 🥵
Me? No, I’m not obsessing over them again i promise-
The hands of a killer, but not when he touches her.
His hands once knew gentle and tender, but they hardened into fists as tight as he closed off his heart. Then she came along. It took time to learn how to be gentle and tender again, even when it was against everything he felt in his broken soul. His heart at war with his head. Eventually, the heart wins no matter how hard you fight it. And God, it felt good to be the one that she looked at for comfort. Eyes looking back at him like the eyes he sees in his dreams. Different, but the same. His touch wrapping around her like muscle memory. His fingers cracking from the hardened mold and remembering how they used to move. Gentle and tender. A father's touch.
