I just went down a Reddit hole becuase I couldn’t find your beautiful fic time cast a spell on you anymore and was so sad. I so enjoyed it and had read up to the most recent update when they moved into the beautiful beach house. Are you planning to finish or post it again? I respect your decision regardless, just know that fic was so beautifully crafted and I really enjoyed it to date. It was so close to being done too. Hope you are keeping well.

Hi , I just wanted to tell you that I loved your fic and I'm very sad that you removed it from ao3. I understand completely where you come from in doing so, but I feel disheartened that you had to do it.

I am against the use of ai in artistic fields, but I believe that we shouldn't hunt any and every use of ai in works, because it leads to situations like this, where you poured your heart in writing an amazing fic and censored yourself because someone found out you used ai (without even checking if you used it to write or not, and I read one answer from an ask where you say that it was just grammar checking one paragraph).

So yeah, I'm truly sorry that you felt you had to remove your works because the community made it not a safe space anymore, and I support you because honestly those ai witch hunts lead more to genuine writers abandoning, hiding, or modifying their works than to 'real' ai writers to stop doing so.

I read only the first chapters and then waited to have the finished fic to binge it so it was a mistake on my part, but I truly hope that one day, the complete work could be available.

Sorry I think I vented a bit there but just wanted to send you an ask to show you my support because this situation must have been hard for you.

I understand people being upset and I respect their opinion/views on AI. I even agree even though my actions dont reflect that. I just didn’t expect to get death threats and such hateful comments before I even explained myself. I woke up to the hate that morning and I think I was so thrown off and emotional that I abruptly deleted my ao3. It saddens me now. Especially because I can’t get it back. I just have never been in this situation before and I’ve never received hate that I was so taken back and unsure what to do.

But I’m sorry it’s upsetting to you and other readers that I’ve removed my works. i should have thought about those that it would have affected. I did make a Google document for the readers that reached out to me so they can finish Time cast a spell on you. I owe them the ending regardless of how the fandom treated me. Just saw that parts of Time Cast a Spell on You were written with ai. I really loved this fic, and I have to believe you wrote most of it. Why did you decide to use Ai? I'm not trying to attack or criticize btw- I'm against generative ai but I also really loved your writing so I'm genuinely curious

Please know that I did write my fic. I put a lot of hard work and love into my story and I’m sad and regretful that my mistake of grammar check for a paragraph ruined it. I am learning and will do better in the future. As of now, my ao3 is removed and I do not plan to write anymore moving forward (aside from finishing this story for the readers that need closure).

i dont want to sound jarring BUT basically i haven't read your fic 'time cast a spell on you' for a good month as ive been waiting for more chapters. ANYWAY i had to delete all my tabs yesterday and that was one of them, and so tonight i was going to read it and i could not find it :(. i even pulled up through my search history and its gone too. im wondering if you deleted the work. if you have thats okay.. :( its just one of my favourite fics in the fandom if not ever i have read. anywho sorry if this sounds like a complaint it really isn't im just curious what happend. thankyou!! :)

Hi! Thank you for reaching out. I’m sorry if I caused any distress in deleting my account. On my TikTok I have explained what happened and made a statement. 🤍 Here it is below:

As many of you know, I removed my works from AO3 following everything that happened this last week. I would like to make a statement regarding the AI allegations on TCASOY.

I wrote TCASOY because I genuinely love these characters and this fandom. I’ve been working on it since January, and I poured countless hours into planning, drafting, editing, and writing it myself. It’s been the most in-depth writing process I’ve ever experienced, and I’ve loved every minute of it. The best part has been sharing it with all of you. I’ve loved interacting with readers over these past months, and because of that, I feel I owe you an explanation.

In regards to AI, I have dyslexia, so grammar and spelling have always been areas where I rely on outside tools (Not an excuse, please know that. This is lack of education on my end). Since I started writing fanfiction in 2021, I’ve used the free version of Grammarly as a spelling and grammar checker. There was one evening when Grammarly wasn’t working for me, so I used Claude to check the grammar of a single paragraph. I did little to no research that night into alternative ways to check my spelling and grammar, and I should have.

That was the only time I used it, and I didn’t use it again afterward because I preferred going back to Grammarly once it was working. I understand now that many people consider any use of AI, including grammar checking, to be unacceptable, and I take responsibility for that decision. Since all of this happened, I’ve been learning more. I am just now finding out that even Grammarly is not the right way to edit. My understanding had been that Grammarly was simply a spelling and grammar checker. I now realize these conversations are more nuanced than I understood at the time, and I’m continuing to learn.

When I initially said that I didn’t use AI, I was thinking about writing in the sense of creating the story itself. I have never used AI to write scenes, dialogue, characterization, plot, or ideas. Every chapter, every scene, every conversation, every piece of characterization, and the overall plot came from me. Everything. The one mistake I made was using Claude on a single occasion to check the grammar of one paragraph. I take full responsibility for that decision.

I am sorry.

I hope this statement brings some clarity to what happened. If you loved TCASOY, I hope it gives you some peace of mind to know that the story itself and countless hours behind it, came from me. I know some of you may still feel hurt or betrayed over the way I handled grammar check, and if that is how you feel, I completely understand. I am sincerely sorry, and I will carry this experience with me as I continue to learn and grow.

I have continued writing TCASOY (no AI used) privately because I was heartbroken that readers who were invested in the story would not get the ending I was so close to finishing when I deleted my AO3 account. If this situation has changed how you feel about my work, I completely understand and respect that as well. Moving forward I will do better.
