Homecoming | Naeun x Jay
Naeun arrived at the hospital a little after dusk. The sun had yet to reach above Seoul's broken skyline, and so the walk to the hospital had been a little nerve wracking. The night patrol was still out finishing their rounds. In the short journey between her house and the hospital, Naeun had been stopped by no less than three patrolmen, demanding to know what business had drawn her into the streets as such an hour. Nevermind the fact that Naeun was dressed in her scrubs already, or that each of the soldiers knew exactly who she was. In fact, she'd even treated two of the three men before.
Needless to say that she wasn't in the best of moods when she finally arrived at the hospital. Despite the early hour, the waiting room was already milling with patients. Naeun did her best to hide her grumpy mood behind a smile, making a point to stop and speak with a couple of patients before she actually disappeared behind the desk to retrieve her first stack of charts.
She caught one of the older nurses on staff watching her and hiding a laugh behind the stack of paper in his hands and threw him a playful glare. She continued to stare him down as she flipped open her first chart, though her act was ruined when the papers inside the folder promptly scattered around her feet. Naeun's gaze dropped to the fallen pages and she pushed her lower lip out in a childish pout. The expression only lasted a second. She couldn't help but let out a small, embarrassed laugh, covering her face with the now-empty file before stooping down to retrieve the strewn papers.
"Not a word," she warned uselessly, gathering the fallen charts to return to the folder. Unsurprisingly, her coworker ignored her warning and promptly burst out into laughter, the sound loud and misplaced in the ruckus of the waiting room.
