I know the height difference in the cover is because don and Raph are behind their brothers, but I'm a sucker for older Mikey dynamics. I had a vision and it required being put on paper.

Any advice for someone who wants to make their own comics, but can't seem to figure out the main story/plot?

Hi Anon! Thank you for the ask We ended up writing a lot on this subject, so it will all be under the cut as to not clog up peoples blogs :]

(🧇) My advice is basically just iterate as much as possible! Come up with different scenarios, decide if you want your story to be Plot Driven or Character Driven. A lot of story writers nowadays write by a formula, this can be especially useful for your first story! What can also help is to decide first, the direction you want to take. You want your story to end really sadly? Alright what will drive your characters to get to that point. Decide your ending and fill in as you go. You can also make a really quick ramble, like I want A and B and C to happen, and then flesh it out through editing. A lot of good stories follow an overarching plot, with small arcs inbetween. Take Rottmnt for example, there are episodic arcs, character arcs, and finally the overall plot. Comics is a lot like screenwriting for a series, I highly suggest checking out various screenwriters on YT for more information. Theres a lot I can write about narrative, plot and how to structure arcs but I don't want to overtake this ask too much haha. TLDR: Figure out the big stuff, and then fill in the middle parts! You can always edit as you go, but figuring out the big stuff will always be the most important thing. (In my opinion)

(🖌️ ) Ok my turn All that waffle said is very cool and important and i advise you to follow their advice since he tends to be a hell lot more profesional than I am and actually studies stuff My method tends to be a more "fuck around find out" type aproach. When it comes to comics, stories, characters, etc, usually i get randomly bombarded with ideas and work things out as I go. However, it is important to know a general outline of start-middle-end Something that helps me is to identify the themes. Figure out what you want to tell with your story, whats the message. From there, figuring out the plot is finding diferent ways of exploring that theme. A lot of my work is exploration of themes, concepts and ideas from different POVs Another thing is that you dont need a main story/plot. Sure, thats good and fun, but so is making art for the fun of it! It depends exactly what youre doing, an AU, an original story, an iteration, and how seriously you wanna take it, but you can just experiment and have fun and worry about that sorta thing later. Thats what I've done with several original characters of mine; make comics and concept art and figure out the story as I explore the characters through the art. It doesnt have to be a linear process (creative projects usually arent in my experience) (🧇) The most important thing is to have fun! Especially in a passion project!

There is a set date! The first comic of TMNT: Event Horizon, will be posted on the 3rd of May, making it's official welcome on TMNT Sunday :D
