After everything Felix had heard about what happened on the mission, whether it was those he knew or those he did not, he could not help but delve back into a period of questioning things. What was their purpose, as students, at the monastery? Were they simply foot soldiers for the church to send off to do their bidding? The idea of it left a sharp, bitter taste on Felix’s tongue, and he wished he had never even thought the idea.
Alas, it haunted him now, and he decided to take a walk to avoid falling into a pit of investigating conspiracies like some other students tended to do. He was not about to become some theorist prattling off about some unknown conspiracy that put their lives at risk. Felix was just there because Rodrigue had sent him there, mainly as an assist for the prince. Dimitri was, after all, his father’s favorite son.
Felix’s feet carried him outside of the monastery’s grounds and out towards the hill where some other students gathered to stare at the changing leaves of the trees. One in particular, a large and looming tree with pink flowers, caught everyone (even Felix’s) attention. Some tiny woman shoved a ribbon into his hand, rambling something about how it was meant to represent a wish. Felix spotted several other students tying their own ribbons to the tree, and he scoffed as the merchant woman moved along, leaving him standing alone near the tree with a ribbon in hand.
"Tch, what a childish tradition," he mumbled as he tightened his fist around the ribbon.
