So last night Tundae, Bree and I went to the Grand Performances at this outdoor stage downtown for Kamasi Washington, Pharcyde and others. Tundae took my camera and to our surprise there were so many stylish and uniquely dressed people of color so we decided to get some street style photos for the mag. Bree noticed a group of black people that looked so perfect together, they were already posed for the perfect photo. We wanted Tundae to go take a photo of them but for some reason he just didn’t want to approach them. Bree agreed to go with him and ask for the photo. They come back and I ask to see the photos and Tundae zooms into one girls face and jokingly says, “hey look it’s Corinne Bailey Rae, she looks just like her, haha” and I’m looking at the photo like, wtf Tundae are you joking!? That is Corinne, how can she look THAT much like her?
And Bree’s like, yeah that was her. Lmao And I take a closer look at the photo and sitting next to her is Moses Sumney and next to him are the girls from King!!
Like what the literal fuck! Such a cool moment. So cool to not notice in the moment and so fucking cool to introduce the magazine and then have Moses Sumney eager for us to post.
