2: do they have a nickname?

Not that she lets anyone call her, but Celeste calls her “Vegs” occasionally. And it’s in debate, a little, on if Celeste will end up calling her “Lyra” at some point (it’s the name of the constellation Vega is a star in. Though I didn’t know Vega was a star until after she was named). It has potential to be a sweet moment, if I can do it right. I like the idea of it, at least, even if it doesn’t happen.

12: do they have any family members?

None that she’s in contact with or keeps up with or checks on.

20: sexual orientation?

She’s a lesbian.

22: do they have any tattoos?

No. She can’t, really, because it’s too identifying. If that wasn’t an issue, though, I can see her having a half sleeve on her upper arm. Not sure why, but it feels right.

Hello and happy world-building Wednesday! In honor of it being 2-2-22, is there any number symbolism or significant numbers (or dates) in your world/to you characters?

hello and happy WBW! it's been a week but TECHNICALLY it's wednesday :)

so! There in fact is important numbers in the story. specifically, the first two books take place at the end of the decade, and the rest take place at the start of the next decade. The economy at this time is meant to match the roaring 20s and great depression of this world.

Also, 3 is important to Corey and Oliver, because there are 3 rules they share. Be the best, don't care, and don't get caught caring.

Happy WBW! Did you plan for these stories to all be in the same universe from the get-go, or was this a later decision?

not at all! they're just a bunch of random plot bunnies I didn't wanna turn into a full book.

the connected universe started as a challenge for myself to see if I could put them all on the same timeline that still made sense :P

since it ended up working super well, I've continued the stories to fit the continuity, and any new rando plot bunnies I just write em intending to fit into it

Hello and happy WBW! Do you have any creatures or animals in your wips? Do they play a role in the plot or are they just there to be part of the world?

Hi! Happy wbw! Thanks for the ask!

In my world Mae (Enna's adopted sister) has a pet squirrel named Robert. He is perhaps part of the plot. Perhaps not. I am not sure yet. There's also normal animals, and also dragons, which aren't so much animals as magical beasts of ancient myth and legend. So they don't really count, but they are very much plot and also very fun.

Ooh, these sound fun! I'll do this for my Death's Eyes WIP, since that's the one I've been thinking of most!

3. Assign your WIP a color.

If I had to pick a color, I'd go with a very, very dark blue and silver sparkles in it. I know sparkles are kind of a cheat, but the best color to fit it would be like a night sky, where it's all dark with the occasional light to guide the way!

4. Assign your WIP a taste.

Ohh, something bitter but sweet at the same time... is bittersweet an actual taste or just a feeling? Um... cappuccino candy! It's got a more bitter coffee flavor, but there's a layer of cream candy on the other side that sweetens it! So it's got both!

5. Assign your WIP an astrological sign.

Hmm, this one's rougher... I can't pick between Gemini or Scorpio, so it will switch between both!

Day 4: The Insomnia Code

Genre: science fiction

What first piqued my interest: The connection between dreams and technology had me SOLD in about two seconds. (Also, the mood boards are lovely.) And the idea of minds going “missing” in their Dreams is scary and fascinating.

What I want to learn more about: Everything about the Network sounds awesome, and I’m really curious to learn more about how Dreams work and what Dana’s life is like as a Dream Programmer.

What I’m excited about: The worldbuilding and the stakes are totally fab. And did I mention there’s a nervous cat guide named Virgil??
