You’re correct! But Ash is trying to give him a chance here, and not be as annoyed by him, and she’s more receptive to loyalty than hyperactivity, so she’s just lying to herself and mischaracterizing him to trick herself into being nicer.

Truly the most pointless detail in the FLOAT world is the Penguins With Teeth
FLOAT originated as a dream that I have been slapping details onto at random in order to develop a story. You know, as one does.
And one of the (weirdly vivid) details from that original dream is that there were penguins… but with teeth.
It’s just absurd enough where I’ve got to keep it, but I’m 87% sure it will never be a plot point. At best I think it’ll be a running joke between characters, where there’s these stories of What Lies Up North, and River is like, Oh my god what lies up north?? It must be terrible?
And the answer is Oh, No, it’s not Terrible, they’re just assholes and they bite so we don’t go up there.
