The name of the game is focus.

During the TOEFL exam, a momentary lapse in concentration can be fatal. This is especially true for the listening section. And, as it is a lot easier to pay attention to something you understand, the more time you spend reading long passages and listening to extended discussions prior to taking the actual exam, the easier it will be for you to follow the material.  Furthermore as fatigue is often associated with a shortened attention span, try to get as much rest as possible leading up to the exam. In other words, don't go into the exam center tired or hung over.

Remember, doubt can make what otherwise would be an easy question challenging..

“ It is important to proofread each of your essays before submission. Regardless of how long or short your essays happen to be, it can only help to review your work for errors and omissions. While exam takers commonly focus on the content and total length of their work, allocating 30-60 secs towards eliminating simple, but costly grammatical errors, typos, etc will definitely strengthen your score. “

“Even with the time constraints associated with the TOEFL Writing Section,  dedicating at least a minute towards the creation of a brief outline of your ideas, before beginning your composition can be a good idea. This approach offers a number of benefits and advantages. First, it encourages the development of proper organizational structure within your essay. Second, it can serve as a useful reference point, or mental map as you type out your ideas. Last but not least, having an outline can help prevent ‘Writer’s block’: An inability to create meaningful thoughts, or ideas in relationship to what you are trying to write.”
