Evaluation

Evaluation plays a vital role in our lives, particularly in our working lives, but for us to be fully accountable and take responsibility, we need to have evaluation with full transparency.

Evaluation is critical if we are to promote acceptability and accountability in our homes, in society and in communities and in the world. We must evaluate our understanding on what we’re doing and whether what we’re doing is right. We must also evaluate what the consequences will be, in evaluation around making our decisions.

Governments and leaders through their decisions are totally responsible for their evaluations. Evaluation determines value and character in individuals, and in the workplace for those participating in evaluation, to reflect on intervention that helps inspire new ideas and energy, which leads to positive change, new initiatives and partnerships.

Evaluation is the catalyst for change which means it’s an intervention in itself. The process for gathering information through evaluation needs to include the following:

Accountability

Accountability is achieved through conducting evaluations that accurately and fairly report on performance results.

Organised learning

Evaluation deals with answering difficult questions, such as whether governments, individuals, or organisations are doing the right things. Evaluation is an important source of evidence in identifying what works, what doesn’t and why,

Acquired knowledge

Is generally found in the recommendations and lessons learned from evaluations.

It is important governments and organisations alike, provide a useful platform so that people understand, and can discuss how things they deal with need to be evaluated.

Inclusive evaluation processes help to build relationships as well as opportunities for further collaboration between people and groups and in institutions. Governments must evaluate their decisions so that they understand the connotations on the decisions they make, so we are safe. We’re not seeing that right now.
