Kei had a particular reason that day to pay a visit to Pinku Gym ( a building he hadn’t entered since childhood ), or more accurately, the gym leader. So when he had time during the afternoon lull in the work day, he packed up his brief case and walked to the other end of town.
It was lucky he had brought his longtime companion-- an intelligent and efficient Flygon he’d raised since it was a just-hatched Trapinch-- because it seemed every. single. child. in the vicinity wanted to challenge him.
Once within the Gym, the battle requests didn’t ease up, leaving him thoroughly irritated by the time he had reached the deepest point of the building.
He had been there one before, when he had earned a badge from the last gym leader, so he had vaguely known the way; this hastened his travel time.
Standing before the woman who ran the Gym, curiosity overtook him. What kind of trainer was she? How did she battle? Unable to help himself, he faced her head on, crossing his arms over his chest.
“I want to battle.”
