at my school the highest gpa won. if there was a tie, there was a tie. lol the 3rd place gpa certainly didnt become first bc of ties and you can’t fucking decide you don’t wanna be valedictorian. this show is the dumbest

I agree with you that the show is the dumbest and that you can't decide that you don't want to be valedictorian, but I could see someone turning down a speech. Not all students are as "baby Simba" ambitious as Tina, smoothly articulate as Artie or "he's gonna say something anyway" as Blaine, and there are probably thousands of kids with valedictorian-level GPAs who have social anxiety or speech impediments who appreciate the recognition and the accolades but would rather chew their own hands off than speak in front of students/faculty/parents, many of whom might have made their lives very difficult.

They are arguing because Tina is upset that Artie gets everything he wants and she doesn't get anything (she should really be pissed at Blaine but whatevs). Artie tells her she's changed. Tina gets pissed and tells him his girlfriend is a B word. Artie turns it around and is like "you're a B word"
