I’m so obsessed with muitan it’s insane. I love thinking about how their ancestors were best friends, they both had a strong connection to Yoriichi, they were the first two to unlock the mark, teal and red are complimentary colors(I think don’t quote me on that), and they’re so close in age.

Tanjiro reminds Muichiro of his father, which I find adorable and so impactful, as it’s known that your naturally drawn to partners who resemble or share traits with your parents bc of comfort. Tanjiro and Mui’s birthplaces were fairly close, only about 2 hours away by car.

They both see the best in each and constantly support the other. Muichiro doesn’t hold back his favoritism towards Tanjiro, and gladly pays more attention to him than anyone else.

Tanjiro asked Kanamori what Muichiro’s favorite things were, and made sure to fly paper airplanes with him. Also it’s so sweet bc Tanjiro ventures out to learn all he can about the young hashira, determined to get closer to him.

ALSO their crows GET MARRIED!!! And yes this is canon!!! Ginko and Matsuemon get married after the final battle.

Also they have so many cute and tragic tropes and ship dynamics. Sun x moon, red x blue, short hair x long hair, introvert x extrovert, dead x alive, etc.

I wholeheartedly believe with my whole chest if Muichiro was a girl, no one would bat an EYE at shipping them, or them potentially being canon. They’re made for each other.

Their past bloodlines were already super close. If Yoriichi hadn’t met Sumiyoshi, it’s very possible Tanjiro might be dead without Hinokami Kagura. If Yoriichi had never passed on sun breathing to the Kamado’s. Also interesting how both Muichiro and Tanjiro have a tie to demons and the corp.

Michikatsu left the corp to be a demon causing Yoriichi to be exiled, and Tanjiro had to be out on trial to prove Nezuko was a trustworthy demon.

Kinda of a stretch, I know, but these two are so intertwined it’s unbelievable.

Also specifically in this panel, they’re the only ones looking at each other. Muichiro and Tanjiro are only looking at each other.

Also it’s so interesting how many times they’re paired with Obamitsu, A CANON SHIP. You could even say they’re a mini-gay Obamitsu.

In this panel it’s only Obanai and Mitsuri, and Tanjiro and Muichiro looking at each other.

Also, they’re the first two to have red blades. ALSO a potential parallel to Sanegiyuu since their blades turned red when they helped each other.

Tanjiro lost his left arm, and Muichiro lost his left hand, kinda like how Tanjiro and Kanao lost parallel eyes.

Kanao, Tanjiro’s canon love interest, and Muichiro are so incredibly similar.

Both of them look similar with dark hair with colored tips, quiet and reserved demeanor, both are prodigies, have identity issues (Kanao struggles to be her own person and make decisions, while Muichiro copied his brother’s personality and lost his memories as a coping mechanism/trauma response, similar to Kanao).

Tanjiro deeply impacted both of them, by nudging them into the right direction to better themselves. Tanjiro encouraged Kanao to listen to her heart, while he reminded Muichiro that helping others will benefit you in the long run. Granted, with Kanao it was more intentional as Tanjiro’s social skills are a bit wonky at times lol. For me, that just strengthens the charm of this pairing bc Tanjiro’s involvement with Muichiro’s character development was so unintentional on his end.

Tanjiro is always looking for opportunities to defend and be around Muichiro. So many of their scenes together feel so intimate.

THE BLUSHING!!! THE SMILING!!!

Tanjiro is always blushing around this damn boy istg. He’s so shocked that someone of such high importance in his mind cares that much about him, and same for Muichiro!!!

Mui is surprised when Tanjiro learns his favorite hobby is paper airplanes, and that he put so much effort into learning that.

I could literally yap and analyze these two FOREVER, but alas, I must sleep.
