練馬区立 こどもの森 Tokyo, Nerima Ward's Children's Forest Yesterday we (K, my father-in-law and I) went to Nerima Ward's Children's Forest. I had been wanting to go for a while and it was really nice. It was a bit windy and she had very little interest in the nice lunch he had prepared for us (including strawberries which he knows I love), but it was nice and sunny and warm when the wind died down. There wasn't a lot of grass but there were some gnarly trees and a lot of MUD. When she first sat in a mud puddle she was a little upset, and I hadn't realized that they had little rain boots for anyone to borrow! So I washed her squeaky kitty shoes and let them dry in the sun while she tromped around in the dirt. She was mostly interested in making mud pies and rolling acorns down a ramp, but she also tried a little sled, a hammock, a mesh climbing net, etc. My father-in-law was a little leery at first, "She's going to get so dirty!!!". I'd like to go back with another good mom friend who has similar views on dirt and toddlers. I don't want to force K to get dirty, but I don't want her to feel like she has to hold back at a mud park! Anyway, the staff were nice and they had a nice little story time too. I can't wait to go back - on a weekday. We nearly had the place to ourself which was extra nice. Also afterward my father-in-law bought me my favorite cake and we hung out at his house and relaxed. Thanks, Jiiji! I couldn’t draw at the park of course but I did a quick pencil sketch and then drew it out a little more after.
