Sign Switching For Brussels Station Self-initiated work 2020 A Tokyo TDC Prize Nominee Work of 2021

The idea is made for international travellers to solve their confusion in recognising the station name, as there are two official languages of French and Flemish Dutch in Belgium while Brussels station is one of the most important hubs in Europe with displaying its station name in two spellings of languages but not fully understood by all.

This demonstration aims to make the station sign visually movable to help the travellers arriving by train to catch the station names in a very short moment.

“Space is the _____ #1” poster TOKYO TDC 2016 Selected

Analyzing the excellent posters designed, I attempt to find out some elements that are the basis of beautiful typographic layout.By focusing and visualizing the character spaces I expected different discovery, which you cannot obtain from the existing information in the poster.By the character spaces only of graphics, the elements which lead to space, rhythm and continuity emerged out of superficial information.The text used to the posters are printed at the bottom of each work as a reference to the original design work.

優れたポスターを分析することで、美しい文字組みの元となる要素を発見出来ないか試みた。字間に焦点を当て視覚化する事で、普段見えている情報から得るのとは別の気付きがあるのではと考えた。字間だけのグラフィックにすることで、表面的な情報の裏にある、空間、リズム、連続性などに繋がる造形的要素が浮かび上がってきた。また、研究対象としたポスターに使用されているテキストを入れ、ポスターの原型を想像できるようにした。
