Not another f***ing elf!!

Hugo Dyson (another member of the Inklings) to J.R.R. Tolkien... who went on to write Lord of the Rings with lots more f***ing elves.

The Inklings was a group of writers and friends of C.S. Lewis who met in his rooms at Oxford and at the Eagle and Child pub. If you go to the pub today you can still see where they met to discuss religion, mythology, and the stories they were writing.

List-random edition

Somehow, I always end up on the UK version of sites--I apparently have a wishlist on Amazon.uk, and when looking for Lord of the Rings book sets, I somehow ended up on Abebooks.uk

Believe it or not, as huge a medieval fantasy fan/buff as I am, I actually have not read the whole LotR books--only the Hobbit and the first half or so of Fellowship. This is mostly because I only own the Hobbit (and the Samirillion, from places unknown), and never had my own copies of the main books.

I just ordered a set of 1987 hardcover copies of LotR on Sunday, and it just came today from MA, and I am utterly astonished at the expediency.

There goes all the writing I had in mind to do today.

Also, it's officially fall in my heart because I got the first jug of spiced apple cider and heated it up yesterday.
