“Is any pleasure on earth as great as a circle of Christian friends by a good fire?” If you had hung out at The Eagle and the Child on Thursday nights in the '30s/'40s, who would you have been most like?
I just finished Bandersnatch (the Diana Glyer book), so here’s this!
Opinions on Nova Scotian Duck Tolling Retrievers? I've considered one in passing as a service dog and everyone says they're a good healthy breed, but I was wondering if the vets had any input
vet-and-wild here.
Oh I love tollers! They are a fairly healthy breed overall. Base recommendations for breeding dogs are hips and eyes, which is not exclusive to this breed. They're not a very common breed so I personally don't see a ton (although I did see one the other day). Addisons, hypothyroidism, and patellar luxations have also been reported. All breeds are prone to some health issues and tollers are no exception, but they are not poster children for disease like some other retrievers. I've had good experiences with the tollers I've met both in terms of health and temperament, although I've been told they can be a bit hyper at times. I can't speak for their suitability as a service dog but they are a wonderful breed that I am absolutely considering for myself someday.
i love that jrr tolkien has nearly as many epithets as some of his characters at this point but the characters are like "aragorn son of arathorn, elessar telcontar, heir of isildur" and he's like "jirt"
