Long time no Caretaker Day, here's a Samaranth for the occasion!
How I picture Houdini while reading CotIG (if you even care) >>
This…probably won’t make a lick of sense to anybody….neither Leviathan fandom Middies nor CotIG Scowlers…..but Leviathan crossing over with Chronicles of the Imaginarium Geographica. Alek and Rose Dyson discussing Destiny and providence. Sword fights with Rose, Alek, Laura Glue….and Mark Twain. Mark Twain with his Katana against Volger. Lots of sword fighting… Deryn having a ball with the Airships…and trying out some Wings loaned by Laura Glue….
Alek getting to get practice with all his languages and stuff with several of the Caretakers Emeritus. I think Deryn would possibly be a Peter Pan fan so…meeting Jamie might be neat. Like Deryn getting along….flyingly? With Laura Glue…could see Alek getting along with Edmund
Oh! Alek being absolutely fascinated by Archimedes.
Oh! John, Jack, and Charles having thoughts on how the War in Alek and Deryn’s world ended earlier. John absolutely hating Clanker tech…possibly also Darwinist Beasties( except Bovril)
Lilit being there somehow
Alek and Deryn possibly Messengers or the like in addition to their Zoological Society stuff. Most importantly! The most importan….Bovril meeting the Badgers Uncas and Fred….picks up their manner of speaking….especially calling people Scowler.
Make of this what you will.
Al, the Chronographing Cottager and Prince of Naming
So I have ADHD to the point it's gotten hard to read physical novels. My friend and I have been listening to the audiobook versions of Chronicles of the Imaginarium Geographica, and there isn't one for Dragons of Winter. As a result, we're going to record a chapter each, alternating as we go, and send the audio to each other. I bought the hardcover online and:
IT'S ARRIVING ON CARETAKER DAY Y'ALL
I'm excited. 10/10 good job Simon and Schuster
Seeing the works of authors featured in COTIG is so exciting for me for some reason. The familiarity with them/their names because of how well James A. Owen wrote those books, sometimes it feels like running into them outside of the Tamerlane House. I was at a place today that had a Daniel Defoe book on display and I was like 'hey Daniel Defoe' and it's like... I have never read your works to my knowledge, but I remember your name in the book of books and authors that was a love letter to storytelling.
I just got thr Chronicles of the Imaginarium Geographica short story collection, and I’ve only finished the prologue, and I’m already like
According to a poll, very many people on tumblr do not know who Tummeler is.
Mr. B. Tummeler is the father of Uncas and the grandfather of Fred, and he lives on Paralon. He is a renowned foodie, playwright and publisher. He also compiled the Library of Alexandria into one volume.
He looks like this:
I may be the one of the 5 people in the universe that read Chronicles of the Imaginarium Geographica as a child and well. The quote (idk how its in the original cuz I read them in my native lang) of [ “Here be dragons” on a map isn’t a word of warning or a threat, they’re a word of reassurement and comfort] has stuck with me for years. I remember as a 10 yo I could barely comprehend what was going on in books 3-5 but the vibes of this series.. maaaaan
