She hadn’t expected to see anyone she knew other than her sisters, so Tomas had been a pleasant surprise.
He had helped The Hood, one of the only people who knew the truth about the identity of the person who did so much good where she grew up. If it hadn’t been for him, one of her sisters would have been caught, so they’d taken him in for a few days.
Tomas had left without a word.
She walked up to him in the middle of the corridor and lightly slapped him before he even had the chance to acknowledge her.
“That is for leaving without saying goodbye.” She then smiled at him, seeing him reach for the knife and then hesitate. “You stab me, I’ll stab you back, my friend.” She leaned up and kissed him on the cheek, knowing it’d make him squirm.
Knowing someone had seen that exchange, and not wanting anyone to get the wrong idea, she turned around. “There is nothing ruder than a friend leaving town without saying goodbye, no?”
