this vase i threw with white stoneware. then i forgot about it. then weeks later i found it in no shape to be trimmed. after re-wetting it i had the idea to carve random lines into it. then after bisque-firing, i first glazed with tomato red. then i wiped excess of and reglazed with green celadon to achieve this look.
i like the contrast of the bright red and the translucent green. i think this color combination would be beautiful on a plate with carvings. i want to experiment with the combination again and perhaps make a set of bowls and plates? or maybe cups? or even tiles with etched designs on it.
I 100% think that “tomato” red (as Pedro himself deemed it) is just his color that fits him.
Ya know like a power color? Ya know cause everyone has their power color? And while I think he makes any color work I also think “tomato” red just gives his skin tone a glow (does that make any sense? Probably not… but oh well get over it).
I think it just suits his skin tone so well and I think it make his eyes pop. Now I’m not saying that any other colors he’s worn are bad. No… no… I actually love all the statement colors he wears, like the pink shirt and suit.
And not to mention the all white suit… bro I would NEVER be caught dead in all white, it just is way to easy to get dirty. I told my mamma that if she were to try and bury me in all white, that I’d sit straight up and wag a finger at her as I say “you better not bury me in this,” then just die again on the spot.
Anyway I don’t really know if even Pedro him self notices this, but I’ve just found many pictures of him in colors that are super close to his “tomato” red.

Ok… ok… so some are a little more red or pink then others, but still their very (and I mean) very close to it…
Especially the Javier Peña one. Like bro! Dose all his characters named Javi have to have something “tomato” red? Granted it’s only this one occurrence, but still! You can’t tell me this was not planned. I do NOT believe that this was just an oh… these colors kinda match how did we not notice kinda thing…
Like I full Hartley believe that this was planned even though it most likely probably wasn’t…
Please tell me I’m not crazy and I’m not the only one that sees this!
