The egg is actually one of my favorite arcs. It’s very surface-level, and definitely not as character-driven as any of the Wilbur-led stuff, but it’s just so much fun. And, it feels like such a breath of fresh air in comparison to the previous L’Manberg getting blown-up cycle.
It’s just an inherently fun arc. I’ve talked before about how the Badlands are my favorite SMP faction, and how much potential they have, and this arc will help bring them to the forefront. Not only is it a theoretical BBH and Antfrost villain arc, it’s also a Badlands split arc, with Sam being on Tommy’s side. There’s little to no stress, few lives in danger, and so much potential for fun character arcs. It’s so much less serious than the other arcs, and it feels like such a weight off of the lore’s shoulders to have a kind-of filler, less serious arc.
Tommy is also somewhat of a side character. He just wants his funny little hotel. He’s not heavily involved, and is actually completely indifferent to the egg. Tommy just sees the egg as a nuisance that is getting in the way of his hotel business, and it’s so funny.
My favorite part of the arc is Sam Nook. God, I love Sam Nook and his funky little animal crossing noises. It literally never fails to make me laugh. He is one of my favorite SMP characters, despite being a light-hearted, fun, side character. His and Tommy’s interactions are pure serotonin. I love Antfrost as well, and believe he deserves so much more lore.
It’s overall just a really fun, basic arc. It’s Scooby Doo-esque in its simplicity, but we still have no clue what will happen. It’s just... fun at heart. The egg arc is so, so good, and though it won’t get taken as seriously due to the lack of potential death, it’s still up there in the rankings as one of the best DSMP arcs.
