Sometimes A Cross is Just A Cross
I appreciate the opportunity to catch a movie. The issue I have is the hard work that actors, makeup, stunt doubles do to make a story and the studio jump cuts it to pieces. The Uncharted video game / story has become legendary even with actor Nathan Fillion campaigned for the role with a 20 minute youtube video.
Nothing against Tom Holland, but it is painfully obvious that there was some "enhancements" made to his usual lithe frame including a gratuitous six pack wet t shirt shot that was plain fan service. Mark Walberg was dialing it in this film so hard he always had a phone in his hand.
Back to the studio interfering and how this story was told. If we go back to the video game the studio could have started on the memory not using it as a flashback. Additionally, the scene where the main characters walk into a fancy party and while the scene was shot out of sequence the viewer can notice the actors knuckles are bruised. So makeup was left to the ladies. Editors were taking a instruction from the studio not the director or producers.
The video game is the basis for this film and fans of the video game will appreciate this film. If you are buying a ticket to see Tom Holland, you are going to be wondering if he is chewing tobacco but he does his job.
Finally, the cross in the plot what everyone is after but something is wrong in the props department where the crosses are missing their backs and look plastic.
Also, in the story telling a cross can be a cross not a gateway key to a treasure room below a Subway restaurant.
Will I see the sequel ? Yes, because I would have liked for them to find Sam which would have been a better story.
