Dear Bela,

I remember one winter, it was a long time ago. The winter had frozen everything around us. Even the trees. The ground was covered in inches of powdery white snow. It was so cold that it felt like we would freeze over, too.

We kept going and found this cave. We figured it was better than anything we may find elsewhere, and crawled inside. Your fire saved our lives that week, I believe. Because without it, we would have truly frozen to death.

We sat in this cave that was encased in ice. There were cracks in the ceiling that were solid like glass and enough to let the fading sun rays through. Once the moon had finally set, the small fire we had was our only light. We didn't say a word to one another. A smile spread across your face, and you used it to bounce lights off the snow. We sat in the northern lights that night. I drew my fingers and it parted like smoke.

One thing I never told you that night is I was scared. I knew you knew and I tried to be braver BECAUSE you knew. We sat there with our backs to the world, swimming in colors under the moon.

You bring wonder. And I am in awe of you.

I love you as my sister, and one of my best friends. Never forget that.
