Remember when you were little? What was one thing that you saw someone have that told you that that person "made it" or was "well off?"
For me it was "The Good Candy." If for your birthday you were able to have the good candy you were "well off" in my eyes. For most of my childhood the answer to most my questions was "no hay dinero" (there's no money).
When the ice cream truck rolled by and I wanted the ice cream with the face on it and gumball eyes, "no hay dinero."
When I wanted to join the girl-scouts, "no hay dinero."
When I wanted to do ballet, "no hay dinero."
When I wanted the Werther's candy, "No hay dinero."
It wasn't all bad because we got the second best thing, Tomys!
When I worked in early education one of the first activities I did with the kids was a piñata. I filled that piñata with all the candies that I always wished i was able to get. Best day ever, for my inner child.
