There're still many topics about Ibaraki(;^ω^). I know a lot about Ibaraki myself. This is a Japanese elite!!
Kasumigaura Lake is the second largest Japanese Lake. Tone River has the biggest drainage basin area. The second is Shinano River in Nigata Prefecture. The third is Ishikari River in Hokkaido. Ancestors called it Bando Taro. Shinano River is Shinano Jiro. And Shikoku Saburo is Shimanto River in Kochi Prefecture. Taro, Jiro and Saburo means the eldest son, the second son and the third son. But actually Shimanto River is small. It flows in Gunma, Tochigi, Saitama and Ibaraki.
In fact Tone River flowed to Tokyo Bay. Ieyasu redirected its flow to the east. What is now the mouth of the Tone River used to be where the Hitachi River flowed. Of course Kasumigaura was once a lagoon of this River. And where Tone River flowed in old days is called Kenashi River.
The next topic is about the Kashima Industrial Area. It's relatively new compared with traditional the Keihin Industrial Area and the Hanshin Industiral Area. It was built in a planned manner. Unlike Tokyo, its land was cheap. They can easily import ingredient. So petrochemical comlexes are a defining feature of this industrial area.
You know Japan is the one of the world's leading industrial nations. Such industrial areas are magnificent. Factory tours are popular. Iron structures light up in night is very beautiful.
