All the sources have said it’ll join criterion in 2020, judging by criterion’s past releases, I’ll guess it’s the last quarter of 2020. These things take time. I’m guessing it will be the only USA home video release, judging by how close it is to a regular DVD release schedule (it doesn’t make sense for criterion to compete with a normal DVD release of the same film). The good thing is NEON has a deal with Hulu, so it’ll be available there for streaming probably before the criterion comes out!

As for the Korean release, the label that makes them is called Plain Archive. They’re the ones who made Carol, and have already announced they’ll make Portrait. They are region A Blu-rays which is the same as USA region. But this is a very boutique label FYI and they cost like $50 a pop - also very limited edition as well and will probably get released even later than criterion. hope this helps!

i agree mcadams role should’ve gone to a jewish actress but i’m still excited for this esp bc i’ve been waiting for 2 years. i haven’t seen many jewish lesbian movies out there, and i’m excited to see the topic of homosexuality in orthodox jewish community being explored in film, i think there’s a lot of potential with that topic. BUT i completely understand the apprehension. also im not jewish so this is just 1 dumb bitch’s hot take

also sebastian lelio seems to be trying at least 10% more than other male directors (casting a trans woman as the main role in “a fantastic woman”) so we’ll see how this goes.

Yeah I’m less concerned about the film itself than I am goyische people’s reception of it. People are already erasing the fact that it’s a film about Jews and Jewish culture as well as a film about lesbians and it hasn’t even come out yet.
