Tongyeong
In early November, I visited Tongyeong, yet another coastal city, and took a ferry to a series of small islands surrounding the city to visit the shrine of Admiral Yi. Tongyeong is much smaller than some of the other cities I've been visiting, and for that reason felt more authentically Korean than places like Daegu, Busan, and Seoul, which are all pretty flooded with tourists. My friend Kasia and I (other than one guy we saw at a coffee shop) were the only "Westerners" everywhere we went, and we definitely attracted a lot of stares.
The city itself was pretty industrial (as you can see by all of the cranes in the background of what otherwise would have been a nice view).
But once we hopped on the ferry and escaped the smog the view became really nice.
No smoking! Let's worship with a pious mind. Ha.
Kasia and me!
Admiral Yi's got nothing on this!
The sunset on the way back to the city was one of the most scenic I've ever seen.
The sun was enormous, I swear this isn't photoshopped!
