to the stranger on the train: i am in love with you. it seems unsettling since i don't know you; but i think i could love you and the fact that we will never find out is killing me. it seems strange that sometimes, you see people on the street and you just think "wow. in another life, you could have been mine." you will probably leave the train at the next stop and take your flaming hair and beautiful hands with you. that small smile that you wore the whole ride; i wish i could be on the receiving end of it. you will leave the train at the next stop and i will never see you again. i will have forgotten about you by next week. but in this small moment, my heart is yours. know that if right this second, you were to burst out into tears, i would do my best to coax that smile back onto your face. know that i hope that the rest of your life is as beautiful as you. know that if i was braver, you would hear all this from my lips. tomorrow, i will fall in love with someone else and pray for them to love me back. maybe we will meet again. maybe we won't. i could have loved you. you always meet twice in life but until then - i hope yours will be a good one. and should i never see you again in this life, i will be yours in every other version of it. the train keeps moving. my heart stops. we'll meet again.

it is 2:36 in the morning on a wednesday night and i am drunk again suddenly the world doesn't seem so bleak anymore i raise my glass to better tomorrows the drink burns like the worst kind of rejection in the back of my throat but i smile because i am used to the feeling (the burn is new though) the clock reads 3:03 AM and i start to sway with the weight of the world on my shoulders i throw back my 5th or 8th, no, 13th shot (dionysus would be proud. atlas would not.) at 5:47, the memories of the night leave me in the worst way possible and my arms shake under the burden they have to hold up  (i am starting to think the world is easier to carry than the weight of my sins) i crave another shot by 8:00 AM. it is 2:36 in the morning on a thursday night and i am drunk again
