Checkout one of the coolest mechanics in the biz🛠🔧🧰 #Repost @jeskemxcustoms ・・・ • Tuesday - Welcome to an installment of Tony’s Tech Tips! - It’s nothing fancy, but something that is often overlooked, until it comes apart. These thumpers have a lot of torque these days and put mucho strain on the sprocket bolts. Improper tension from install can cause premature failure. As you can see in the video, “it was about to go down.” Thankfully it was discovered. - Here’s what I like to do for preventing this.... •Loctite them (I use red if I don’t see the bike often). •A dab of assembly lube on the countersink of the bolt head that meets the sprocket and shoulder of the nut to ease torque. •Torque them - 30#/40nm in big bike applications). •CHECK tension frequently (don’t tighten, will break thread lock bond, just ensure tight). •Trash them after the second use. - There you have it, thanks for dropping in. ———————— #TonysTechTips #TonysWisdomAF #OhSnapYaGottaTwofer #DontchyaKnow #OhYouBetchya https://www.instagram.com/p/BrioKREhu60/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1gjnfvm9cahd5
