What is your biggest inspiration for writing? Do you have any fave authors you channel in your writing? Can I have a sneak peek at the next Makathi piece? Can I eat your words? They are delicious.

1. my biggest source of inspiration, by far, is music. so many people writing about so many different experiences, with all that atmosphere and emotion...mm good stuff. hell, that’s why i started the playlist ficlets!

2. if you mean published authors, definitely not. i haven’t read a real book in like a year. but as for y’all, though i don’t think i actively channel anyone in particular, i definitely try to determine what exactly it is about your work that i admire, and learn from what you do well. kit’s dialogue, your vivid imagery, viking’s elegant prose, kauri’s varied sentence structure, etc. etc.

3. for you... anything. ;)

His eyes narrow. “That is a vague way to ask a rather complicated question.”

“With this,” she amends. “With whatever we are.”

He is quiet, rubbing circles into her hip bones.

“I am content with this arrangement,” he says finally, carefully, “so long as you are.”

“That's not what I asked.”

“Not what you asked? Or not what you wanted to hear?”
