This co-worker of mine continues to try and bait me into “discussions” about race, gay marriage, theology, etc. I usually have no problem talking about these things as long as I know that the conversation will remain civil, however past experience with this person tells me that they are incapable of doing that. They basically come into my office with the purpose of debating me about an issue they already know my opinions on. Whats the point? Why seek out a fight? Justification? Why can’t they just believe what they believe without trying to drag others into the muck?

I’m the only woman at my job. I’m also the only minority. As such this person will come up to me and rant about how terrible feminism is and how POCs are too sensitive....really? I think you’ve got the wrong audience.

Sometimes I try to educate him about these things, expose him to other view points, but other days, I just keep my peace. Admittedly its getting increasingly difficult to do either of those things, but I refuse to sink down to his level.
