This is a tool store in Ueno/Asakusa :)

They sell very nice planes, chisels and all sorts of other tools :) They are not too keen on Gaijin customers as they don’t speak English! Please be respectful, patient and respect the tools you buy. Don’t buy here if you just want to try things! This store caters to professionals and bartering is very disrespectful! This year I’ve had a hard time buying tools because many foreigners seem not to understand the attitude of Japanese craftsmen towards their tools.  If I hadn't brought photos of the things I’m making they would not have seen me as a customer. 

A friend of mine who is a Daiku knows this shop too and both of us have had a great experience seeing the tools there :) So even if I went off to a bumpy start I greatly enjoyed shopping there but I can see how someone might get very frustrated and leave due to nature of Japanese crafts.

It is something I generally noticed in Japan that Japanese are gradually getting tired of foreigners... Still if you're like me someone who has a lot of respect and understanding for the tools and for Japan you will find this shop to be like a treasure trove :3

In some way this acceptance by senior craftsmen and tools merchants made it very rewarding once I had the tools in my hands (^-^)

I think this review might only be helpful to a handful of people but even if only one ends up busing something there I’ll feel happy to know how I helped this shop a little (^-^)

I wish everyone who stuck around reading this sharp tools and that they’ll stay away from your fingers while you're dreaming (^-^)/
