Dan celebrates his birthday

Happy 15th anniversary, Dan Vs. and a happy new year to everyone who suffered from the dystopian hellscape that was 2025. I know I sure did. Looking back, the show resonated with me not just by its well-written characters, decent animation, a hilariously dark premise for a cartoon airing alongside MLP, and great writing, but for how it "saved" me. Yes, seriously. If it weren't for this show, I would've still been stuck with this "anime good, cartoons bad", "all cartoons are for kids", and "western media is too woke nowadays" mindset I've been having since the late 2010s (then again, I was very young and impressionable around that time, so can you blame me?). I especially relate to Dan a lot with how butthurt, lazy, temperamental and petty, but also kind, hardworking, and determining we both are. While I haven't watched this show in a while, it's neat to look back on a property that retroactively changed my view on the medium of animation as a whole, especially in this day and age where it's being treated like garbage. I hope everyone has a safe 2026!

Psycho Heart and Cure Creep(apa)y(a)

This was based on a strange dream I had between Saturday night to Sunday morning, where Neptunia's Blanc (in her Unlimited uniform) and Tropical-Rouge's Minori Ichinose were portrayed/reimagined as Yanderes instead of Kuuderes in their respective works (well, more so standardized with Minori; Blanc is sort of a subversion due to her anger issues and vulgarity). So I had a little fun on Ibis Paint bringing this super-specific idea to life.

A sketch draft for an anniversary artwork for Compile Heart, which was founded nearly 2 decades ago today. It's best known for the Hyperdimension Neptunia series, along with its Maker insert Compa. This drawing is in commemoration for my favorite Japanese AA game company and my favorite Maker character, featuring both her old (HDN1 - SisVSis) and new (Unlimited onwards?) designs. A completed version (w/ linear and coloring) will come out about a week from.

(OCs) Spahgetti and Meatball, the characters

A female cat and dog duo, my first attempt at creating furry characters (who aren't copyrighted), and whose names were conceived from a plate of food I ate during my Friday cooking class from two weeks prior (April 3rd). I first designed the characters on the very day I entered my cooking class, and it took me about five days to design these characters on Ibis Paint X. Details to note:

Spahgetti's name is not a typo; I named them that way on accident at first since the actual spelling is "spaghetti", but I kept it that way because I thought it was funny.

Spahgetti is a Somali cat who wears 2000s Y2K Japanese-inspired goth outfits, goes by "she/they" (I envision her as nonbinary, though she does also prefer "she/her" pronouns), carries a late 2000s flip phone to communicate with Meatball, and denotes a stoic, mostly moody personality that covers a sweeter side, especially towards Meatball. Her nickname is "Getty".

Meatball is an American Water Spaniel who also wears Japanese-inspired Y2K clothing, but her's the 2000s Preppy mixed in with Marshmallow Core and Uptown Girl. She is an aspiring webcomic artist who is optimistic to a T, carries an early 2010s post-IPhone mobile phone (modelled more out of a Samsung), her "ears" act like her hair, is a fan of her idol ViXeN, and is the only one to lighten up Getty's mood. Her nickname is MB.

Getty and MB were childhood friends growing up. They are also Gen Y/Boomers, but MB likes to pretend to be a Gen-Z E-Girl.

Their setting takes place in the mid-to-late 2010s at most, but have aesthetics carried over from the 2000s (and unlike the real world, said 2000s aesthetics never went away).

I always wanted to do something with furry characters, based on my liking of Super Duper Bunny League, the Thirens from Zenless Zone Zero, and especially Zootopia. But since I wanted my other webcomic project (Channel Mania!) to be human first, I incorporated that idea to my Spahgetti and Meatball comic strip. I might even make a dedicated webcomic series if it blows up.
