Many readers doubt Tooru's status as a major villain, their main complaint was that he appeared too late in the story and the lack of foreshadowing about his existence. However, what if his existence had been hinted from the beginning of the story? As we all know that he is:
After that we do see that Tooru and Yasuho have memories in the past as lovers:
Although some readers suspect that those memories are just fabrication made by Tooru, that he put a false memory on Yasuho as the Qing dynasty’s hairclip did in chapter 71.
Then I remembered that at the beginning of JoJolion, in Yasuho's first debut, she mentioned that she had kissed someone. This made me wonder that, was the person Yasuho kissed was Tooru?
However, the man's appearance looked more like Joshu.
And the problem is that Yasuho doesn't like Joshu, then how did they ever kiss?
Joshu himself admitted that he had kissed Yasuho. I thought that maybe Joshu was just making it up at the time. The odd thing about their relationship is: Yasuho never showed that she liked Joshu or at least had a romantic memory with him. The closest relationship between Yasuho and Joshu that have ever hinted is that they were childhood friends.
Perhaps they were once close, Norisuke IV and Jobin themselves even thought that Yasuho was Joshu's girlfriend.
And Yasuho's relationship with the Higashikata family seems pretty good as they welcomed her (Yasuho surely knows them well enough if she knows what Daiya likes).
But Yasuho has absolutely no romantic memories of Joshu or a reaction that suggest it, unlike when she was with Tooru.
Yasuho never blushed like that when she was with Joshu, the closest thing was during the 「Paper Moon King」 arc aka Tsurugi’s prank:
But that happened when Yasuho came under the deception of the PMK, where she couldn't recognize anyone because everyone's faces were the same. She thought that Joshu at that time was Josuke, then misunderstandings ensued.
Even so, I still think that the person Yasuho meant when they had kissed (back in chapter 1) was Joshu, not Tooru. How did they ever kiss even though she never liked Joshu? This makes me uneasy but I think it was possible that Yasuho was forced, or at least been reluctant to do so.
This was implied in her first debut in chapter 1, she was hiding from the man she has ever kissed once, Joshu. She wanted Joshu to go somewhere else, far away from her spot.
It’s still weird though, because as long as Yasuho met Joshu again after that incident, she no longer had any reaction to him (either embarrassed, reluctance or hostility).
Though there was a moment when Yasuho rejected Joshu's calls several times, showing that she was reluctant to face him (something easy enough for me to sympathize).
Numerous questions popped into my head:
When and where did the kissing take place?
Why would Yasuho be willing to kiss Joshu? Was there an ulterior motive from her or was she purely forced? (she was quite close to the Higashikata family)
Has she ever really liked Joshu in the past? (of course I can understand that she doesn't like him anymore :P)
How can Norisuke IV and Jobin think that Yasuho is Joshu's girlfriend? Did they kiss at Joshu's house (and they happened to watch them)? Or does Joshu often talk about Yasuho to them and claims that he is dating her? (I believe more in the later)
But, my biggest questions are:
Does Joshu know that Yasuho was dating Tooru during high school?
Why doesn't Yasuho have any reaction to Joshu but react to the memories she had with Tooru?
Yasuho was playing to Joshu's house quite often as a kid to the point that she knows what his younger sister Daiya likes, but it seems that she only recently became acquainted with Mitsuba.
It makes sense because Mitsuba only joined the Higashikata family through marriage since around ten years ago… which meant that Yasuho might have rarely been in contact with the family during those ten years.
So it might have also been possible if the news that Yasuho was dating Tooru did not reach Joshu. I'm sure that Yasuho just has been in contact with Joshu again because they went to the same university, which means that Yasuho has (probably) broken up with Tooru, so it didn't matter anymore for Joshu to know that Yasuho was dating Tooru.
I hope we will back to the Higashikata’s house soon to see what will happen between Joshu, Yasuho, and Tooru, the continuation of chapter 98 which will answer about what is happening to them and also how the flashforward scene in chapter 83 can happen.
This post is indeed confusing, but at least I’m not roasting the hypes for a grannie who hasn't done anything at all during this climax event.
And f*ck Joshu and Tooru! Leave Yasuho alone! Only Josuke deserves her.
Tooru, the first JoJo villain with ‘sentimental feeling’?
Since JJL chapter 97 until now, the suspicion that Tooru will become a 'big villain' of part 8 keeps getting stronger.
More and more readers are starting to believe this, but there are still a few readers who are still uneasy to accept it (mainly Caatofags and Jobinfags).
Let's suppose that Tooru is 'the main villain' in part 8, he was initially introduced as Yasuho’s ex-boyfriend during their high school years, broke up around last year. He is working as part-timer in T.G.U. Hospital. During his early scenes, he was mainly just an ex who wanted to rekindle his relationship with Yasuho.
Until we know his true face that he is a rock-human, he is behind the conspiracy of Locacaca and The Head Doctor gang (likely including Damokan Group), he has the deadliest Stand 「Wonder of U」 with its disastrous ‘calamity’.
Regarding his feeling on Yasuho, did he really love her or was he just using her?
JJL chapter 90: The Wonder of You (Your Miraculous Love) – part 7
Seeing his status as the 'villain' right now, it is not surprising that most people think that Tooru is only using Yasuho to his advantage, considering this as well…
JJL chapter 97: Endless Calamity – part 3
…makes me think so too. Villains like him, especially in JoJo franchise, can’t be bothered by ‘cheesy romantic feelings’.
But what if he does have 'special feelings' for Yasuho?
I don't think it's a straightly 'romantic love', it’s probably more like a ‘nostalgic feeling’, ‘gratitude’ or ‘deep impression’… in other words, “there is something special I see in Yasuho (that I have never felt before)”.
At least that's what I'm seeing in Tooru right now (post his confirmation as the villain).
Before, we thought that Tooru and Yasuho first met during high school days and then they dated until a year ago. But in recent chapter of 102, it turns out that they had met long before that, about ten years ago when Yasuho was still a little girl.
Tooru at that time looked not much different while Yasuho was a child who had grown up now, obviously this is because Tooru is a rock-human as it has been shown in the previous chapter of 99.
Tooru was looking for a specific person's identity to impersonate. Though he did not expect that Yasuho could find said ‘identity’, she managed to find it for him (thanks to her 「Paisley Park」, which was still dormant at the time).
I think, Tooru and Yasuho's first meeting in the past was a coincidence (although some also believe that Tooru had planned it, considering that Yasuho had already used 「Paisley Park」 subconsciously to see what her mother was doing with her phone a moment before).
However, considering the 'fate' factor which often becomes the core theme in the JoJo franchise, I somehow believe that the meeting between Tooru and Yasuho was 'fated'.
I don't think Tooru would have guessed that Yasuho was a Stand user until he saw what she was doing with her phone (and a glimpse of her 「Paisley Park」). Little Yasuho had indirectly helped Tooru in his plans, perhaps Tooru had been thinking that their meeting was destined, that Yasuho's presence in front of him was to help him smoothing his goal… by fate.
“I had fun with you!” kinda sounds like a ‘thank you’ to me. “I hope we meet again someday when you grow up and you’ve forgotten about me” is something that was planned promised ... or fated.
Do you think what Tooru was saying here is really sincere or just a deception to catch Yasuho off guard? We still need to know more about his true personality.
But let's say, if what Tooru said that “I want to treasure my memories of you” is sincere, I think it is possible. Perhaps, as a rock-human, Tooru wants to learn to ‘love’ like the normal regular humans in general.
Araki has explained several times about the rock-humans and how they live in society. Chapter 99 told that even among their kind, rock-humans do not have close bond or affection for each other. Starting from the rock-women who have no affection to their babies, the rock-humans live without parental figures and only rely on survivability.
JJL chapter 99: Endless Calamity – part 5
Since the very beginning they were born, the rock-humans were not familiar with the concepts of affection and intimation. Even in working together, there is no love and friendship between them. The rock-humans are such beings that have very “individualism” nature in contrast to ordinary humans who are fundamentally “social beings”.
JJL chapter 46: Love Love Deluxe – part 4
The rock-humans and ordinary humans at first glance are pretty indistinguishable, but in truth they are very different beings, both in terms of physiology and how they socialize. These factors may be the main reason why the relationship between rock-humans and normal humans is (almost) guaranteed to end in ‘failure’.
Examples of some of the relationship failures we know of are:
Aishō's past with his (then) girlfriend.
Dolomité’s past with his (then creepy) girlfriend.
Damo and Hato.
(and lastly) Tooru and Yasuho.
Tooru and Yasuho were allegedly dating and then broke up, but is it possible that Yasuho is the first (normal) human being as the one who 'shows' Tooru the 'love'? (Or at least, she has impressed him somehow).
JoJolion has touched a lot of themes through these 100 chapters, but the recurring theme since chapter 001 has been “family and identity”, the rock-humans have neither of these, they are fabricated beings with fabricated identities, so to speak.
Despite the fact that Rock Humans lack the capacity to form social bonds, we've seen how some of them, such as Aishō tried to form relationships other than business, but ended up failing due to his rock-human nature.
Taking what we've seen up until this point of Tooru and Yasuho's relationship, we can assume Tooru is indeed the kind of rock-human that has tried to form relationships but ultimately, he put his nature to get anything that upgrades his being first.

Let’s say that Tooru indeed has ‘special feelings’ for Yasuho, not necessarily romantic affection, but rather as someone special/unique in his eyes. I think this will be a new thing in the JoJo franchise, because so far there have never been any main villains who have this 'weakness'.
DIO was bisexual who slept with random women (and allegedly men), the closest people who might be special to him were Jonathan and Pucci, but it has never been blatantly explored.
The closest person Kars became friends with was only Esidisi, he might also care about Whammu and Santana, but he was pretty indifferent when they were gone.
You might think that Kira may have liked Shinobu, but I saw that their relationship was (sadly) only 'one-sided'. There has been a chance that Kira might have fallen for Shinobu, but Araki determined that Kira ended up as irredeemable villain.
DIU chapter 112 & 129
Diavolo had clearly wiped Solido Naso Doppio's memory of Donatella, he also considered that Donatella was his 'fatal mistake'.
Pucci was a priest which made him impossible to deal with romantic affairs, it was also the reason why DIO decided to trust him (to carry out his agenda). A little exception is that Pucci also worshipped DIO.
President Valentine only loved his country, he did not really care about his wife Scarlet, his attraction to Lucy was purely ‘lust’.
I think, we probably won't see Tooru's feelings for Yasuho to turn into his weakness, I mean… a silly weakness that makes Tooru unable to harm her or allow harm to come to her (as this has also already been debunked in chapter 97).
However, I can also see his disappointment with Yasuho when she decided to oppose him and get in the way of his goal. By looking at his expression, his disappointment was different from Valentine's towards Lucy. It’s not simply a ‘disappointment’, it was even more like he looked upset from being betrayed.
I would like to hope that Tooru's 'special feelings' for Yasuho (if any) will be further explored in JoJolion.
Tooru, a child groomer?
Tooru's flashback with little Yasuho in recent chapter (102) led some readers to call him a 'child groomer' (both jokingly and seriously).
For what I know about ‘child grooming’, it is the act of befriending and establishing an emotional connection with a child, when someone builds a relationship, trust and emotional connection with a child or young person so they can manipulate, exploit or abuse them.
Chapter 102 told about Yasuho's childhood during summer camp, that she was shunned and felt lonely. When she was alone, Tooru caught her attention with the two rocks he was carrying which produced fire. After that, the two of them interacted until Yasuho 'paved the way' for him to steal Akefu Satoru's identity.
It is not yet known whether his meeting with Yasuho was initiated by Tooru himself or purely fated. If this is answered, maybe we can see further whether he is a truly 'child groomer' or not (LOL).
What it is known later, Tooru and Yasuho ended up dating when she was in high school (and he briefly fingered her according to his words).
In the end, I did see that Tooru was somehow 'manipulating' Yasuho: with how she has found someone’s identity he wanted to impersonate and his suspicious actions to her during the ‘Dangerous Pursuit’.
But regarding sexual matters, we don't see Tooru doing that to little Yasuho in chapter 102. It is possible that they have had a sexual thing when they were dating, but it was done when Yasuho has entered the age of consent. (+13 years old in Japan) Of course, I leave your judgment on this matter.
Even if you despise him for this reason, then you may find this one as a good reason of why he is the 'villain' in this part (8).
