Really interesting article via the New York Times. No longer does every company look to positive NPV evaluations and using investment banks when analyzing deals (though we've already seen this through numerous "acqui-hire" deals, I guess) - sometimes it's just more important to pass the "toothbrush test" - is this a product you would use once or twice a day?
I like where this is going - judging deals solely based upon hard NPV numbers is incredibly limiting - other more qualitative metrics must be used in this process, and some companies are finally beginning to recognize this - with Silicon Valley leading the charge, of course.
