Angst you say… I can promise you loads of it. It’s sort of a given combination with Takara Phoenix, Nicercy, Angst and then Fluff and that is the best combination for the two of us because we strive on the amount of angst it gives us but ends up making us happy just that we have read it. And it is such a great reminder of all that is still good in the world when everything just feels like it’s falling apart.

Every story of Takara Phoenix that we read, we are astonished at the most amazing way that the characters are built. Whether an AU or a canon-event follow up, the elaborate way that she gives us the backstory of the character and the event is amazing and makes us believe in what she intends to convey through the story.

Though we’ve both been absolutely dying to give away spoilers we are trying to make sure everyone of those people who sees our review and reads the story, is able to experience the story in all its beauty and the way it just makes you want to believe in love altogether...

I guess that’s another reason I love your fics. You don’t erase Nico’s history (at least the most important parts) and you pay attention to his growth instead of shrinking him down and feminizing him like most of the PJO fandom does these days. Also I LOVE how you portray Percy. He needs as much attention and adoration as Nico. (2/2)

And yes. Nico… The actual reason I like to include his past/psychology is less about all the bottom!Nico stories out there but about all the self-harm!Nico stories.

Those. Those I loathe. The set in canon world self-harm stories. Because that is not Nico. That is the most OoC you could go with him. He is so fucking strong. He endured the loss of his mother, of his older sister, he lived alone since he was ten years old, he taught himself everything, he kept his sexuality and identity to himself, he isolated himself. But he did not turn into a crying, weak little ball of angst who cuts himself to make him feel better and needs Percy to heroically pick him up and put him back together again and then he magically stops self-harming because Percy’s pure love healed him.

And yes. I have read that in PJatO fics. Too often to be able to count it.

Nico is strong. Brave. Proud. Don’t forget all of that just for the sake of your manga-scheme of seme/uke portrayal.

Look. I know coming from me that sounds hypocritical considering my early Percy was very… uke-fied too because I am from an anime/manga background so I enjoyed making Percy shorter and giving him longer hair and such. But… Percy at least is canonically the blushy, stuttery, submissive part of the relationship, so there is that? Not to mention, for the majority of PJatO, Percy was shorter than even the girls and since we never got a proper list of “This is how tall they all are in cm”, I reserve the right to say that Nico hits a growth-spurt and shoots past Percy, who has never been too tall and was now also not too tall.

But that’s the beauty of fiction. I get to have all the top!Nico I want in my fics and stay the hell away from bottom!Nico fics - I literally haven’t read a PJatO fic that wasn’t explicitely a gift written for me in over two years now because of that - and others get to do it the other way around ;D

Santa Claus, or Nico seeing as that is his preferred nickname, is well-aware of his biggest fanboy, yet it still comes as a surprise when Percy is found near the workshop, nearly frozen to death after venturing to the North Pole to find him.
