Brazilian-born Amauri Torezan says he is inspired by representations of the future and abstract art of the mid-20th century. His flat, hard-edged compositions include both geometric and organic forms that “seem to be floating around each other evoking a sense of depth, as though the shapes were eternally suspended in space.” Torezan’s work has been exhibited in prestigious museums and galleries across the U.S. as well as in Europe and Brazil. Painting on a variety of surfaces, his work commonly done on a scale small enough to hang on walls, this work at Miami Ave. and NW 33rd St. provides clear evidence of how well Torezan’s work translates to the mural—hopefully we’ll be seeing more of his work on our streets. @torezan1 @artbasel @wynwoodmurals @scenesfromthesidewalk
