So I know you said you're not that up on Daredevil, but I was thinking about Jewish Vanessa Marianna today since Ayelet Zurer is Jewish and we thus write Vanessa that way in our giant mallverse. Mostly I was thinking about the influence on her character in canon, though, because the circumstances are so different. Also since in that story she's dating Elektra I was thinking about Elektra trying to go to synagogue with her and being overwhelmingly awkward but kind of into it maybe?

I wish I knew more about this canon because I LOVE THIS. Partly because wanting more Jewish rep includes wanting more villain and villain-adjacent Jews. Partly because every presence of Jewish actor means AUTOMATIC Jewish headcanons.

Partly because the idea of Elektra going to synagogue hits my HEART.

I haven’t done a big post-Emerald City Comic Con post in awhile but I wanted to share our cosplay pics bc @toriasimmons and I had sooooo much fun with them this year. Saturday we were Kathryn TWOton aka Lisa Frankenstein and Sammy (Abigail 2024), because Kathryn Newton got announced as a guest and we were like WELL KATHRYN TWOTON RIDES AGAIN.

I will say, not to play favorites but Kathryn was genuinely so fucking cool and talkative; she told us a bunch of fun anecdotes (Scoot McNairy taught her how to smoke on the Halt and Catch Fire set for her character because she was “bad at it”, she got ADR’d to say “Dad!” more times in Quantumania than she really did and it bugs the shit out of her, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett specifically added her into Ready or Not 2 even though production was already underway because “they were like, no we NEED Kathryn” and the character is based on her own personality) and also when she saw my bag of (fake) onions she yelled SAMMY THOSE ARE FUCKING ONIONS and then insisted on holding them for the picture. She probably talked with us for like 10 minutes and it’s maybe my favorite celeb interaction besides Chloe Bennet?

Katy O’Brian was also really delightful although I am afraid my brain stopped working during the interaction because she is just so hot. BUT she was super excited to look at my Love Lies Bleeding blu-ray I brought for her to sign so that helped lmao. I am just a lesbian okay. People who may remember my Summer Glau Accidental Groping Photo may note the awkward shit I am doing with my hands in the Katy pic to avoid a repeat incident.

And Sunday we were dressed as Coachella’s hottest and most desirable attendees, Tower Prince Kiriona Gaia and Princess of Ida Coronabeth Tridentarius, fiancées and general menaces, with our mini-me American Girl dolls! Ft. a flowy cape sewn by yours truly and a shirt with one of the best Zolita lyrics designed by B. Locked Tomb is hands-down my favorite fandom to cosplay because we always make new friends and people who Get It REALLY Get It. It’s also extremely fun to embody a character who is confident she is the hottest bitch in the room even if she looks objectively ridiculous.

B and I went to my folks’ house today to watch the Kentucky Derby as we do every year and after the race we were explaining some of the Locked Tomb characters and interpersonal dynamics to my mother, who loosely understands the concept of the books based on our cosplays and our custom AG dolls. My mother is also an evangelical Christian, the kind that legitimately believes spiritual warfare is real and crows are minions of the Devil who is real, so I am frankly shocked she’s never really freaked out about the necromancy of it all

BUT today after asking us one million questions about how the magic system works in the books and why we enjoy them, and listening attentively and asking good follow-up questions, she finally said something like “so…just to check, you two aren’t into this series FOR the necromancy? Like you’re not gonna try to do any of that yourselves, right?” and we were like ………..do necromancy???????? no????????????????

Today at Rose City Comic Con B and I were Kathryn TWOton, or Lisa Frankenstein and Sammy Abigail 2024! Because, see, Lisa’s a monsterfucker and Sammy is a vampire, so it works perfectly for them to be together.

We actually got way more attention than I expected, which was great - a couple people took our pictures and even if people didn’t recognize us on sight, sometimes we would say the movie names and they would get it. My favorite was a woman who had just seen Abigail recently and said “your hand tattoos look just like ones a character in this movie has” and I was like LMAO FUNNY STORY. Oh also, Charlie Cox complimented the tattoos (which B drew on me).

I was too busy doing anniversary things slash forgot to make this post earlier but December 9 is our seventh wedding anniversary and I love B very much <3

B has been trolling eBay for American Girl stuff and got amazing deals on Corrine (far left) and Julie (middle left), so we retrieved Samantha (rescued from a Goodwill by my mother years ago) and my Today girl May from my parents’ house last weekend. B also has Kirsten and a Magic Attic doll at her parents’ that we’re gonna get next time we see them. Our family is beautiful <3
