Kiribeth Wedding

Potential partner asked me what I thought a Kiribeth wedding would be like, and the answer got way longer and more detailed than I intended (as usual, lol.). Since I have other Kiribeth shipper followers, though, I figured I’d share! (The question was posed in reference to my mainverse (a.k.a. headcanon backstory) for Lisbeth (which you can read via the link, if you’re at all interested), so if you want to skip the bit mentioning that, start at the second paragraph!) I hope you enjoy!

Well, off the top of my head, I think they absolutely wait until Rika is cleared as perfectly healthy, able to walk again without any kind of help, and discharged from the hospital for good before they even start planning (unless she and Asuna insist since she’s so excited, despite Kazuto’s protective misgivings). That might take a bit, realistically-speaking, so she might not get to do much in that area until she’s at least, I’d say, eighteen-to-nineteen-ish? Then, they might feel a little young (since this is real life, different than SAO), so they might wait a tiny bit more, till she’s twenty, maybe even twenty-one, just in case. Then, when they feel ready, they’ll start planning.

It’ll be a small, private wedding, most likely held in Kazuto’s backyard, really only Kazuto’s family, the SAO gang, their other SAO survivor friends/acquaintances, Charlotte, and Doctor Izumi (including anyone they want to bring, of course) in attendance. (Anyone who even knows about it, excluding Rika’s most tight-lipped hospital coworkers/exclusive patients, is super rare, which is done on purpose.) The event itself is quick, but intensely intimate, either Andrew (Agil) or Doctor Izumi giving Rika away in her father’s stead and Kazuto and Rika writing their own vows. Rika will have made the rings herself so it’ll be all the more special, using the material closest to Crystallite Ingot she could find in real life (more mainverse stuff: assuming, of course, Rika can even forge in the real world anymore, depending on whether or not I go with my headcanon that says she can’t because the heavy metals will kill her almost instantly).

Afterward, they’ll have their reception (in the same place). Kazuto and Rika, of course, share their first dance as husband and wife (this song comes to mind), and then the rest of them (their main SAO crew with Andrew’s wife, in particular) pile in, giving them noogies (Ryou, a.k.a. Klein) and having a great time! Ryou and Asuna would be all over their respective best friends, Andrew helping with Kazuto, while Keiko (Silica), Sugu, Shino (Sinon), and Yuuki (if I go with the ‘she survives’ game ending instead) tackle Rika. Soon enough, all of them are teaming up to tease, embarrass, and praise the hell out of each other and the pair (Andrew’s wife is zero help with the first two, lol).

They’d all have so much fun, talking, eating, and dancing the night away, and then, finally, they leave for the night as official husband and wife (I don’t mean that in a dirty way, haha!).

It’s be the best wedding they could’ve asked for, and it doesn’t really hit them that they’re married until Rika gets to work after the end of her mini vacation and her select coworkers and patients start asking excitedly after her and Kazuto, how it went, if they had so much fun, how he was in bed (for all the nosy ones, lol. Sorry, gotta be realistic there, haha! (Note: They didn’t spend their first night ‘traditionally’ in that sense, so she has nothing to report there!)), etc. And at that point, she just has to take a minute because she’s reeling like, Holy shit, I married Kirito…!, and she’s giddy as hell the rest of the day, cheeks aglow and smile and eyes as bright as her wedding ring.

When she gets home, Kazuto notices, too, and he raises an eyebrow and smiles adoringly while asking if she had a good day, and she doesn’t answer, just moves to meet him at the couch. Looming over him, she cups his cheeks, leans her forehead against his, and kisses him like she never has before.

“I love you,” she whispers, pouring every ounce of emotion she’s ever felt for him into that kiss and those sacred words.

And with that as their starting point, they spend their first night together.
