Once upon a dream

Dew formed on Ivy’s skin as her metabolism changed from absorbing carbon dioxide to inhaling oxygen and using the glucose stored in her to nourish her. Small scrapes would mend even the cut on her hand she used to revive the nicotine plant.
In the Dreaming voices could be heard from a large fancy dinning room.
She is too sickly because of you her father accused her mother as Pamela sat right outside that dinning room door on the floor covering her ears humming an Abba song. Tears streamed down her face as the voices got louder.
It’s just a birthday party Daniel her mother argued waving the birthday card in his face. I told you she is better off being home schooled. McDonald’s have they no respect for themselves she mused but still thought Pamela ought to go.
She cried on the hallway and the dinning room door opened. Crying again Pamela. You know it’s not safe for you outside my darling. Momma will take care of you sweetheart, we will get you all the tutors you will need and you don’t need those distractions.
“Okay mom...I’m sorry” Pamela spoke meekly for all she wanted was to go to that birthday party. To play in a ball pit, to have cheap chicken nuggets and cake and play with the kids in her class.
Pamela walked away tears streaming down her face to run to her bedroom opening the blinds to let sunlight in even if it burned the skin in her arm and made her scream causing her father to run into the bedroom and yank her away from the window.
Pamela why must you always be such an attention seeker child. Daniel sighed and sat on Pamela’s bed.
Mother and I will be going to Switzerland next week. Be kind to your child minder Pamela.
And there it was. The moment that pain took hold of Pamela Isley and with tears in her eyes she ran and leapt out of the window. Only from the ground floor but when you had a rare skin condition that meant no melanin was produced the sun practically caused her skin to blister as she laid on the ground in the middle of her mother’s prize tulips screaming in agony.
She only wanted to go to a stupid birthday party.
