“ do you have feelings for me or something? “
for thee little writing prompt <3 love youuuu
It was supposed to be a silly comment. Just a little light teasing as Cas had picked up the milkshake Dean had been drinking so that he could have a sip, too. Dean watched as Cas wrapped his lips around the straw- the same straw that Dean had just been drinking from- and everything inside Dean just kinda exploded.
He hadn’t even meant for the words to come out (they were supposed to remain bouncing around in his head), and yet, as soon as the words had started flowing from his mouth, he couldn’t stop them.
“Sharing milkshakes with me, huh? Do you have feelings for me or something?” Dean teased, bumping his hand against Cas’ as he slipped the milkshake from Cas’ grasp.
Except, Cas ducked his head; a hint of rosy red dusting his cheeks as he looked down at the table. And this was where Dean realized it wasn’t a joke anymore. Because Cas reached up and fiddled with a napkin, his thumbs rubbing at the scratchy paper as the corner of his lips quirked in an almost sad smile.
“Would it be so bad if I did?”
The words were spoken quietly, as if Cas was talking to the napkin instead of Dean.
And if Dean thought everything had exploded before, now, it felt like his entire world had been flipped upside down.
Did that… did Cas just… that couldn’t be true, could it?
Cas briefly darted his gaze up from the napkin in a nervous gesture, and when his gaze locked with Dean’s, Dean knew it was true.
“No,” Dean murmured, voice thick in his throat as he put the milkshake down to brush his fingertips against the back of Cas’ hand. “Not so bad at all.”
There was a sharp shift in Cas’ expression, transitioning from shock to disbelief, then hope, and happiness.
“Do you have feelings for me, too?” Cas whispered.
Dean smiled, lightly linking his fingers with Cas’; watching as Cas beamed at their now joined hands. “I do,” Dean replied.
