Things have been crazy... the youngest got back together with his girlfriend...they went to prom had a great time and broke up a week later.
She deals with a lot of anxiety amd the relationship was too much for her. She wrote him a very kind letter, read it to him in person. They talked and that was that...
The very next day (a Monday) he and I tested positive for covid...my husband tested positive on Tuesday.
Tuesday I had an urgent video doc visit and they put me on paxlovid. My symptoms went from bad cold to bronchitis like (minus chest pain) within 24 hrs...sore throat, fever, fatigue, headache. With antiviral meds I tested neg after 8 days. Youngest and husband went 11 & 13. Their symptoms very different. Husband felt/sounded like he had a bad cold, youngest stuffy nose for a few days and a small cough.
We all were so different we isolated to 3 different rooms. Oldest had been home from college the weekend we all tested pos and had had a bad cold (he jad taken 2 pcr tests before coming home both neg) Somehow he managed to get out of her amd not catch covid.
Sunday night (I've only been functioning "normally" forb5 days at this point) I walk down my stairs to grab a box of pasta from a cabinet...bottom step I hear a pop feel shooting/burning pain from above my ankle to just below the knee (left leg not new hip side).
ER does an xray no mri says they think I tore my calf muscle...need to follow up with ortho 48hrs... my ortho where I had my hip done cant see mw until next Wednesday...
I go to urgent ortho and they can do nothing as they no longer have access in office to mri
She unwraps my leg...show her wear pain is she gives me a referral to get an mri and come back on friday.
Mri says they need prior authorization from my insurance (which I did not need when I had an mri for my hip in fall). so now Ibwait for them to call me back and schedule. At this point im taking the mri to my ortho next week instead of going back to urgent ortho...The PA wrappedbmy leg up in a way that was super loose and didnt cover the area that hurts and told me to ration the pain meds from the ER...take Tylenol during the day...😳
I came home took the crap bandage off and fumbled through a "flamingo shower" (standing on one leg) the whole time realizing falling in the shower is a bad idea for the new hip (shower chair arriving Thursday this time I will hold onto it).
I also rented a knee scooter because I dont think anyone is remotely strong enough to ise crutches unless you have killer upper body strength...I do not. The scooter is awesome (I did fall off it today and bruise my knee on the right side but it is still awesome ).
So.. I am still waiting to find out exactly what I have done...stairs are terrifying I sit and slide down on my butt,
I still have a little congestion/ dry cough left over from covid. As soon as I can I need to have my kidney function tested to make sure the meds/covid have not done any damage..lab request is in I just need to figure out the leg before I can get myself there to have blood work.
I told my Mom and sisters this is my bodies way of saying I need more rest apparently. I am trying to listen.
Also I did get to pick up my hearing aids last Friday. Fingers crossed they help with my Auditory processing disorder. So far I feel like they have made a huge difference for me in the smaller settings I have used them in. 🤞🤞
Also the oldest is home from college for the summer. I am so grateful he is here he has been a huge help with this new injury. I think he might be ready to go back to school though lol! He did say it wouldn't be home without a little crazy...he isn't wrong..I just would like a vacation from the crazy for a bit.
