What's the deal with getting tones in an apartment? Thought of writing and recording in mine but don't really want to use software. Was thinking of getting that ampeg preamp pedal they announced at namm for bass, but is there a guitar preamp pedal that would play well with other dirt pedals or effects after it before running into an interface?
Man, I wish I had more info for you here. I haven’t played with enough solutions to do this. Right now I’m really keen on looking into Two Notes stuff like their Torpedo Reload or even their new Attenuators they have coming out. They let you either attenuate your amp or you can use them solely as a load box to DI your amp’s full signal and then use cab simulation software to get a fully usable sound.
I know some people already using their cab sim software and they love it and I’ve heard tons of recordings with the Reload device they have. I’m probably going to pick up their attenuator first though to see if I need all that extra stuff. The attenuators (search: Torpedo Caper Attenuator) are coming out in the coming months and will cost about $229 USD while the Torpedo Reload has been out but costs $850. However, that thing does a LOT more than just act as a load box so the price doesn’t seem crazy when you see what it does. Look into those solutions.
