Ivy’s Fakemon - Tortonate/Torplode
Tortonate was the first fake Pokemon I designed for project Gen Zero. He started as a whiteboard doodle that I really liked, and consequently kicked this entire project off. He ended up Fire/Dark type, but the skull on his shell is a remnant from when he was planned to be Fire/Poison. A somewhat cautious Pokemon who doesn’t start many fights, but is not afraid to end them.
Tortonate evolves into Torplode, another Fire/Dark type. Torplode is confident and brutish and always ready to throw down.
These Pokemon are the only ones to whom I gave a signature move. The move is called Countdown and work as such: The Pokemon lights the fuse on it’s tail, initiating a countdown. Starting at 3, the countdown drops by 1 at the end of each turn. When the countdown reaches 0, the Pokemon erupts in a devastating explosion that knocks out every Pokemon currently on the battlefield, including itself.
