A pneumatic torque multiplier is a gear box which has a pneumatic air motor. There is a reaction device at the end of the gearbox. It is used to absorb the torque and allows the tool operator to operate it with minimum exertion. By controlling the amount of air pressure, the torque output is adjusted.
Appropriate in certain cases : Hand operated torque multipliers are suitable for low volume or when there is no power source available. Pneumatic torque multipliers available at Excel Assembly Solutions are suitable in cases where there are a large number of bolts involved. They are quiet, have no impact, and provide precise torque control.
Some of the advantages of pneumatic torque multipliers are as follows: There is a broad range of Pneumatic Torque Multipliers which make them adaptable to with many applications. The operators will be less fatigued which leads to an overall increase in productivity. No impacting results in less damage to the tool.
Typical application : Pneumatic Torque Multipliers are suitable for tightening and untightening bolts up to a diameter of 150mm. Typical applications include: Wheel nuts on trucks and buses.
Engine head bolts
Heat exchangers
High-pressure joints, e.g., pipelines
Heavy vehicle production, e.g., suspension bolts.
Reaction force
When using multipliers, the reaction point should be able to withstand reaction force. Great care should be exercised when applying high torque to bolts and studs.
